Searching

Did the Confidential Intermediary give you a reason why they couldn't locate a member of your birth family? Generally they have all the information in the file to find a birth parents such as the full name and date of birth and possibly the names of the parents of the birth mother.

Warmest Regards,
Colleen Buckner

Unhappy Needed exact date!

My mother does not remember much, However there is a picture of her being very pregnant. It was taken in Aug of 72 She believes she was at least 4 - 6 months. And the family says the birth was in the winter around chrismas, give or take a few wks. But no one has exact date. I was told to narrow it down it was too broad.
How do you narrow down 2 months if you aren't sure?
Should i go day by day until i get a match?
PS
I am not the adoptee, i would be the sibling looking for the adoptee.

have qustion about my adoption

I called the agency that handled my adoption and they told me to write to adoption archives, p.o. box 45713,Olympia,WA . Will this get me my nondisclosed information or am I on a wild goose chase? The angency that handled it was the state of washington protective service. I am looking only for my sisters and brother. I was born an erickson, adopted in Port Angeles.

You might contact the agency again and ask them what information they are going to provide to you and let them know that it is a sibling search that you are interested in.

Baby Girl (Jackson) Seattle, Wa. 11-30-68

I have been searching for my daughter, have done most everything people have suggested. Written for all my non-id information, registered, sent for my hospital records, so on....... But I got letters back from all the counties in Washington saying they have no records, and the hospital where she was born told me they only go back ten years, and my records have been destroyed. I find this hard to believe?? How can they destroy my hospital reocrds, shouldn't they be on microfilm or something? Or are they just telling me this because she was adopted through child welfare services, so it means it was a closed adoption? Bit confused now. Any suggestions for me now? Thanks, Ellen

Oak Harbor, WA, 9/11/57--searching in WA

My husband was born in Oak Harbor, WA on 9/11/1957. From what we can gather the adoption occured shortly after his birth and was handled privately by an attorney who was a friend of the family. No one will say any more. Most who could say anything are dead.

So we sent for non-identifying information but the state office in Olympia can't find a file. Now what? The letter we receieved said something about court houses, adoption agencies. Can we get non-identifying info from a court?

Thanks for any help,

Janice Cecotti

Intermediator (sp)

How much should one cost for the state of Washington. I am looking for a boy and I've heard all the way from 200 - 2,000. What is your thought on this?

Cost

I don't know what they charge and if one search costs more than another. I only know that this group does the "Confidential Intermediary" work for the State of Washingting and that they are a non-profit, volunteer group.

Question Look for birth grandparent

I am just beginning my search and am wondering if it is even possible for me to find my fathers parents if he doesn't want to. He has never been interested in finding them, but I want to have children soon and what to know medical history.

Non-Id Info, Original Birth Cert. Hospital Records, etc.

For those searching in WA and want Non-Id contact:

Family Court Services
516 3rd Ave. W-280
Mail Stop C-203
Seattle, WA. 98104
1-800-325-6165 or (206) 296-9350

For an Uncertified Copy of Original Birth Certificate contact:
Dept. of Health-Vital Records
P.O. Box 9709

*ask for a white copy

As for getting hospital records I went directly to the hospital and filled out the request form and received copies of my hospital records including the birth of my two children placed for adoption in 1985. I did this 3 years ago.
As for the cost of a confidential intermediary it will run about $300 to $400 dollars. Contact WARM (Washington Adoption Rights Movement) in Seattle at (206)767-9510. They should be able to help in finding a Confidential Intermediary. Hope this info helps!
Heather
