Hi Jane,
I see from your public profile that you are from Michigan. Is that the state in which your adoption was handled as well? If so, check out this link from this webite:
Michigan Searching Resources

If your adoption was handled in a different state, you can find other state's specific information on these forums as well by going to Search & Reunion, then Search & Reunion by State.

Good luck to you!

Karen

Talking Welcome, Jane!

You'll learn a lot on this web site, but in a nutshell here's a few things to think about:

1 - Apply for non-identifying information through the state/agency where your adoption was handled.

2 - Register with ISSR and any other online source you can find, including the reunion registry on this web site (that is how bson and I found each other).

3 - Read up on the search and reunion process. You never know, it may happen quickly for you and you'll want to be prepared. Many people recommend the book "Adoption Reunion Survival Guide."

4 - Look into using a search professional, but be VERY careful if you go that route. You'll probably want to try your hand at searching first.

Good luck and best wishes,
Peace,
Susan
