I am very interested in finding my father's birth family. My father passed away almost 2 years ago, and as far as I know never knew anything about them. I have received some non ident. info and just sent a letter to Children's Aid to try and get some more.I am thinking about trying to get the adoption order, but I don't know if they will give it to me. It seems that I don't have any rights, being the daughter of an adoptee. I would just like to know my family background, medical history, etc. and be able to say where I actually came from!!!!!! I have registered on several websites. Would anyone have any other suggestions for me or be in a similiar situation????? Thank you.

I don't know what rights you have, as the child of an adoptee, but I'm originally from CT, and was helped immensely by the state Department of Children & Families (DCF). They have an adoption services person who was able to provide me with my b-mother's death certificate and some information on my b-father.
The state where you live may have a similar type of advocate who can help you. Good luck! |
