I've got about 6 months until I turn 21, and I can start legally searching for my birth parents through the state of Indiana. And. while I do plan on doing this, I want to ask other adoptees why they've chosen to search for their birthparents.

When I think about it, I wonder about my own reasons. Sometimes I don't know if there is any more reason other than simply looking to appease my own curiosity. And, I know there's a bit more to it than that... but I wonder what the rest of you think.

I think curiosity is a HUGE factor in a lot of adoptees reasoning for searching. I know it is in mine. I want to know who I look like and all that....I do want medical info but mostly I am curious about my birthparents. I think that is totally natural. I want to know if I am anything like either of them. Do I share any of the same likes or dislikes or talents or anything...Idon't want another mother....I have one but I would like to see if any of my bmothers characteristics were passed to me...Does that make sense?

I totally agree with lisa,
It's finding out who you really are and where you come from.
Don't you have an emptyness inside of you? The constant wonder of where you would of been.. What you family looks like. People pass me in the street and I wonder could that be them...

I do the same thing!!!!!! I see anyone even with the same color hair and the right height of my bmom and I stare like an idiot!!!!

I'm glad I am not the only one who obsesses sometimes...LOL
