We've finished 3 of the 4 home study visits, in process of de-cluttering the house (which seems harder than it should be).

I'm here off and on - more off than on lately.
We are in Yorktown - completed the process twice, and are loving being a family....

Wondering if anybody can enlighten me on what they look for when 'inspecting' the house. We have the fire alarms, estinguishers, etc. Anything else they looked at?

They were primarily looking to make sure we had room for a child. They didn't expect us to have a nursery ready. We spent the majority of our home visit/inspection sitting and answering questions..... the walk through the house took less than 5 minutes.

We are looking to adopt in the country. We are looking for local places in virginia for the home study rights now. Who have you guys used in virginia?

We're going through foster care, primarily because we'd like an older child instead of an infant, but it doesn't hurt that it is much cheaper. The classes were rather eye opening.

home study
We are using Commonwealth Catholic Charities & from what I understood was that they will do your home study even if you don't want to use their adoption services. We live in a rural area and had a hard time finding someone who would come do our home study. BTW, we are not Catholic and that didn't seem to be an issue.
