Trying to be optimistic, but reality is setting in...

When I first turned in my dossier (4/9/07) referrals for baby girls AYAP were taking 9 months. After the 6 month mark, my agency increased the wait up to possibly 12 months. Well, I"m at the 10 month mark easing into 11. And travel time is taking 6 months or longer.

I guess my daughter won't be home for the family reunion, which is over the 4th of July. And sadly, I'm worried that I'll get some travel date during Christmas which means I would have to choose between spending Christmas with my babies at home or my baby in VN. UGH!!!!

I knew you guys would understand. Mostly I'm upbeat about the wait, I could be getting a referral at any moment. But then there are days like today....

Sorry about the wait Yash...it is such a downer, isn't it?

We had our referral come over Christmas too and ended up flying to SA on Boxing day - best of both worlds!!!!

I sure hope you hear something soon - keep the faith - you are ALMOST there!

Thanks Karyn. I know I'm on my last lap in this race, it just suddenly hit me today about how slow moving everything is.

I SO understand where you are coming from! I have a friend waiting for a referal from VN and it first was 2-4 months, then 4-6, then 6-9 - it is now about 14 months - but hopefully her referral and yours is just around the corner!!! Hang in there...

i know how you feel!

hi! Just writing to commiserate! I was told I would have a referral for a little girl by end of 2007 at the latest, now here we are end of February 2008, there are 8 people ahead of me for girls and there have been no recent girl referrals, now they are saying I MIGHT have a referral by September 1, the big scary day who knows what will happen might happen! UGH! It seems the wait for all open countries is expanding so quickly! What can you do? I do understand though! :-) Hang in there! Bonnie
ps- to everyone's knowledge, our your agencies still optimistic after the State Dept notice and all? Just curious!

I'm, sorry! Waiting is so hard. Sometimes just plain excruciating. I'm not adopting from VN, but from China. When we started we were told 6-9 months. Well, we are on month 24! I feel your pain. Hang in there.

Tina,

When I really want to whine, I think of you, China people, and keep my mouth shut. You guys are being so strong. I feel so sad and bad that your wait has increased so much.

I know how you feel. The wait seems to be longer and longer. Keep the faith! We are all in the same boat.

Yash,

I know what you mean, each day brings a different emotion and I have had the days where I think it's never going to happen. The longer it takes the harder it's going to be to do thinks... I want to take a promotion that would start in Jan '09, but if I do I can't travel for a few months.

Teri,

I know what you mean, it's like your life is on hold. I was hesitant to make any summer vacation plans just in case, but now I see I probably won't be traveling this summer. Can I make plans for any sort of trips for the fall? No, because I might be traveling then. My sister wants to go spend Christmas in the snow and has to book the place by June or July at the very latest. I'm praying to God and I believe I will have a referral by then, but when will I travel?

On one of the other VN groups, they are calling for parents to write to their representatives and senators about the ever increasing I-600 approval wait time. A process that was said to be less than 60 days is taking longer than that. I wonder if we could ever find out where exactly the breakdown comes in the govt system to make them so incredibly slow.

Jumping in here to commiserate. We got our referral the first week in October and were told we'd travel in January...we haven't traveled yet, and there is frankly no end in sight for when we MIGHT get to travel. We've filled out the SAME paperwork 4 times (that's right, 4 times), and I hope finally we are done filling out paperwork, and are down to the actual wait...oh, and that's just for our VN adoption!! We have a June '06 LID with China, and I expect my son will be 3 before we get to meet our baby girl from China... sigh. I do hope we ALL get to travel soon!! (and/or that y'all get referrals soon!!!)

Oh, as a PS - the travel approval takes so long IN PART b/c there are only 2 people processing ALL THE TA's in VN right now. (This direct from my agency). Although that's only half the story...

Hang in there! We have just started and already I am having a patience problem. I know many agencies and other organizations are also trying to do fundraisers to hire more help in many countries to get more kids 'paper ready' to be adopted. There are stil many children, just not enough workers to process (and in some really rural areas) and to find the children!
I pray for something to happen for you quick!

NeshRoo, what paperwork did you have to fill out 4 times? Was it expired or was it lost? The reason I am asking is that our paperwork got lost recently.

BOO HOO HERE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!
We have been waiting weeks for only 1 document from the province before submitting our I600 application. With all the junk going on right now with the processing of these applications, I would really like to at least have ours submitted, if only that 1 document would come. Now they are saying 60 WORKING DAYS, if that's the case it will be June before we pick up.
So SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
