2 Important DIA Notices
The DIA has announced that adoptions from HCMC will not take place until the child reaches 6 months old. No referrals will be processed until the child reaches that age. I do not know if other provinces are going to follow suit.
The DIA has also announced that cash payments to Orphanages and Orphanage staff is illegal under Vietnamese law, see end of second paragraph below. If you are adopting and a facilitator or any other member of in-country staff ask you for a cash contribution towards the Orphanage, REFUSE and tell them it is illegal and you could be arrested. The reason this has come about is that most of the contributions in the past never reached the Orphanage. If you want to contribute, use an ethical NGO or charity.
