What made you choose Vietnam?
I am drawn to them for some reason...but with the guatemalan program being the most popular and the most successful...what are some of the reasons that attracted you to Vietnam??

Our adoptions were in 1999 and 2001 under the different procedures, but at the time it was the age of the children that made Vietnam appealable. Our first son was six weeks old on adoption day (3 days old at time of referral) and our second was 5 months on adoption day (4 months at time of referral.)

My dh is 1/2 Vietnamese (born in Vietnam), so that was a big factor in our decision. We had looked into other countries (I'm Latina) but for one reason or another we always came back to VN. Plus having my MIL with us means we'll also have someone that knows the language and the culture when the time comes. We already have 2bio dc but we've always known we wanted to adopt later on.

I choose Vietnam for a few different reasons. The cost, referral time and age of infants. I started out looking to adopt from Russia but with the costs and the waits I decided to look at other countries. Now I feel like I am where I am supposed to be.

Honestly, I was drawn to Guatemala first, but because of all of the chaos over there, I decided to look somewhere else. For some reason I was just drawn to Vietnam...I can't really explain it...

We have two children from Vietnam and two from Guatemala- if we adopt again- we would go to Vietnam- I love my Guatemalan cuties but the process was brutal for me- so many chances to lose a referral ( which we did), get K/o'd from PGN ( 4times!) and to boot I felt there was so much corruption- though of course our agency stunk as well. In Vietnam, I felt the process was more standard. We waited a long time for referral but after that things went like clockwork. The children from both countries are beautiful but I am drawn to Vietnam.
