3 yrs back taxes

My husband and I do NOT have 3 yrs back taxes, we have 2 yrs. I have read contradicting things about this. That we won't need it if we both travel, but others say we will.

So which is it? And what happens if we don't have the 3rd yrs taxes? Are we unable to do any IA??

I read recently that it had changed to you only needing the previous year's tax record. I would have a tough time (although not impossible) with the past 3 years too.

I haven't heard anything personally about needing any back tax records for traveling, although we had to send the last three years in for our homestudy I believe. Anyway, I was going to mention that you can go to the irs website at www.irs.gov or call on the phone and order summaries of the last three years of your taxes for free and we got ours fairly quickly.

It's only 2 years back taxes now, I think they just changed it (for the I-600). You can just look up I-600 on google and you'll find the government site for it and the instructions will be there. If you do need the 3rd year (for whatever reason) the IRS can send you a copy. I'd contact them directly.

I read that it was only the past year on the forums here; Guatemala I believe.
