Learning about the Vietnamese adoption program

Hi,

We have one daughter, age 2 and half, adopted from Guangxi China. She is from Xinjing city Jingxi county Guangxi and her orphanage was 5 miles from the Vietnam/China border.

We are in the process of figuring out a second adoption. We had a lovely experience with China and we are also very open to adopting from another country. We are interested in Korea and Vietnam and are in the process of learning more about each program.

I have a couple of questions for you all and would greatly appreciate any information. We are interested in adopting a boy (yet would also be thrilled with another little girl). Are infant boys available from Vietnam? I read where the children available for adoption in Vietnam are from the northern provinces. Are any referrals coming from Lang Son (this would be the province neighboring my daughter's province) Are there any children who are of Hmong decent? (our daughter is Zhuang which are decendents of Hmong).
I'm eager to learn as much as possible about the Vietnamese program and appreciate any information available.

Take care,

There are LOTS of boys available in Vietnam! From a few days old-to school aged children! I THINK but I'm not positive of this that children are being adopted from all over Vietnam, not just the northern part. Since there are many different Hmong tribes in Vietnam I'm sure some of the babies are of Hmong decent. Sorry I'm not a huge help- I suggest emailing some agencies who are licensed for Vietnam adoptions and ask them what region they work with in Vietnam. I am positive if you request a boy you will get one though, there are plenty of boys.

If you go here http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/orphan_visas.html listed next to the agencies that are liscensed it says what provinces they work in. Then you could go to a map and see where they are. Our agency only works in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces(all in the south). I agree that boys are as readily available as girls.
