I would shop around, the current fee for Irish Adoptions from Vietnam is 8,600 euro, about $10,000. This fee was negotiated with the Vietnamese authorities and includes about $4,000 for humanatarian causes.

All the other fees & costs including travel, visas, translation, notorising, come to about $8,000

The agencies should not be charging much more than this figure. Homestudies in Ireland are free.

Fees

Hello, We are expecting to travel in Aug. The first group with our agency is has a G&R date for April 7 they are leaving on the 3rd. I did explore most agencies fees and they are all about the same as ours. Here is how our fees break down:
Homestudy fee: 2,000
USCIS fee: 685
Agency fee: 4,028
International fee: 10,720
In Country fees: 947
Authentication fee: 50 per Document
Translation fee: 20 per Document
Travel for 2: 4,940
Total for us: 24,020 + spending money

All of these are a pretty set fee for an adoption in Vietnam. The Agency fee and Homestudy fees may vary!
I hope this info helps!
Amy

Hi Amy,

That all sounds about right, at the moment Irish people are working through a facilitator My Linh Soland.

Under the new agreement we have to switch to a new agency that is in the process of being licensed. It is called Helping Hands Mediation Agency. I think we will now have to pay an additional Agency fee.

Direct adoptions are a thing of the past, you may now only work with licensed agencies.

In the past some Irish couples used to adopt through The Frank Agency in the US, you now have to work through an Agency licensed in your home country.

At the moment our homestudies are free, but there is a 2 year waiting list, they are carried out by Government employed social workers.

From start to finish it can take up to 4 years to complete your adoption.

I think US adoptions will be a lot quicker.

Hi Amy again,

I think the agency & international fee of $15,000 is just about right. The other fees/costs are pretty standard

If anyone is being charged over $15,000 they should let us know. If agencies know that a group are monitoring their charges they will not be as quick to overcharge.

All the licensed agencies are in competition with each other and they do not want bad press.

Amy - what agency are you using? Would you mind sharing your timeline since you seem to be pretty far along in the process. Thanks!
