it all depends on the state you are in. I would try to find out about the specifics, either from a lawyer (who should offer free BMom consults) or an agency, or by googling it.
I hope everything works out for you. I hope you find the info you need. |

Laws regarding what?
Don't sell yourself short: until the child is born and the TPR is signed, you are the child's Mother, not a birthmother. Enjoy this time. *hugs*

Kora, you haven't posted since the first one. What kind of questions do you have. How would you like us to support you?

Every state's adoption laws are different. In KY mothers are allowed to ask for anything from the Potential Adoptive Parent of her child as long as it pertains in some way to the well being of the child. This includes room and board etc. I learned this while doing research about adoption when we were contemplating the adoption of our daughter Lydia. Where I found most of the information was The Cabinet of Health and Family Services Page. You may want to start there (or California's equivalent) while searching about the particulars in your state.
I agree you need to speak with a lawyer if possible and I also agree you should look into trying to find resources available to you so you can parent your child. I love our daughter very much and I don't regret adopting her...but I also wish she could be with her faraway mother too. I hope this helps! |

9 Alabama, California, Indiana, Maine, and Wisconsin specify a dollar amount in statute for some specific services
Statutes-at-a-Glance: State Regulation of Adoption Expenses You need to research what the limit is set by California law.

Yes. It's called your local state assistance office. They will get you signed up for medicaid and any other financial assistance that you are eligible for.
