US military Deaths in Europe

.
Does anyone know where I might be able to find details of deaths in service, of US military personnel in the UK post WWII period? Not in SSDI!

I am looking for the death of an airman probably still stationed in England sometime between mid 1947 and early 1949 (ie conception and finalisation of the adoption). But I suppose he could have been moved on by then.

It seems there was a tendency for the American forces in Europe to ship their people back home and proclaim them dead whenever an issue of paternity arose. Has anyone else found that to be so?

Thanks NIK

Would USAF (USAAF) people have been in the RAFA. Would RAFA have been concerned with their welfare. They always seemed to have their own support staff at Wethersfield. Anyone know if there was a US equivalent?

I'm asking for a friend by the way, as I was unable to answer her question.

Re Rafa

yes the usaf would have had there own personel but they also have links with the RAF also the rafa has links to veteran organisatons all over the world and if you need to speak to the airforce its best to get the airforce to do it.

Oh and the USAF take there boys home always not just if its a paternity thing
