Looking for Jacqueline Hicks

I am seeking to contact my daughter.

Any help or advice would be most gratefully received.

Thanks

Have you been in contact with the agency/social services that dealt with the adoption?

It was a private adoption, no agency was involved. Although I knew the adoptive parents, and their names, it is proving impossible to find any records of them or my daughter now.

I have located the original birth entry in the records, its got a handwritten amendment to the original (typed) entry. Does this mean that the birth certificate was altered? I really don't know much about this kind of thing, can anyone help?

It shouldn't mean it was altered so try not to let that bother you too much. Obviously when I registered my son's birth (1981) I was given a copy...this was handwritten incidently. Last year my son asked me if he could have his OBC so as it had been stolen years ago I applied for another one. As I was living in Hartlepool (NE England) at the time and my son had been born in Essex I applied for it by post. Two days after sending the form off The OBC was sitting on the doorstep which is incredibly quick. Again it was handwritten and all the details were correct.
