Car Seat On Airplane From Ukraine?

Hi!

This is Junie again. As hubby and I prepare for our trip to Ukraine in Ocotber, I'm full of questions.

I was curious to know what arilines you guys flew on and if you were required to use a carseat. Did you purchase a ticket for your child or did you hold him or her, and if so how old was the child?

Thanks!

I've never known of an airline that requires a car seat for a child. We flew Ukraine International and KLM/Northwest and then United with our adopted child and took her as a lap child. We live in Holland so when we fly back to the states (usually on Continental) we put one of the kids on our laps and the other one rides in his own seat...sometimes with a car seat and sometimes without. With a younger child if you get them a seat I definitely suggest either a bassinette or a car seat since they will be more comfortable sleeping in it on a longer flight.

We just returned...

We just flew back from Ukraine on Tues. with our new 16 month old daughter on Northwest/KLM. We did not bring a car seat but we did purchase a plane seat for her. She had to sit on one of our laps with a lap belt for take off and landing but, otherwise, she was in her own seat. We were so glad we ended getting her a plane seat. She was able to lay down and sleep on the seat comfortably. And it gave us (and her) the extra room to play while she was awake.
