Dossier sent

I have a question we sent our Dossier to Ukraine the first week
in July.

Can you tell me what to expect next about how long before we hear anything?

The waiting is so hard, I wish someone would fill me in on the average time line. I just feel lost and not knowing when they will contact us makes it seem worse.

waiting

Hi
I can't tell you how long but I can tell you the current regulation that is slowing the process down. The processing of the dossier was supose to take 20 days. It now is longer, but the new regulation is going to add considerable amount of time. Before the dossier goes to the incoming mail it is approved by a director of NAC, who works on them 2 -3 hours a day WHEN SHE IS IN. This has the whole adoption process bottlenecked at the bottom. Our facilitator just let us know yesterday. We have some friends that have had thier papers at the NAC for a month and a half. I have sent a complant to the USEmabassy site on adoption and informed them of this delay. However I don't expect any change. I know this doesn't help your wait, but better informed I hope.

God bless your adoption and may He give you peace as you wait.

That is so funny ! I was about to post the same question this morning and I came upon your post. Our dossier has been sent already this month and we were really hoping to be travelling in August as my husband is a teacher and he has the month off of school. Isn't the waiting hard. I leave my house in the morning and the first thing I do when I get in the house is check my email and phone messages. I hope that people respond to this post to give us some small indication of the timeline till we hear something.

praisehim,

yes, I have received the same information regarding the slowdown. Also, a lot of dossiers are being rejected (I think personally by Ms. Chernyshova) for things not really required or enforced before, i.e. unemployment statement for a stay-at-home mom, test result numbers on the medical form. Also, additional paperwork was asked from families with mixed citizenship or living abroad.

Good luck,
Victoria

Adoption bottleneck

Any idea what region Ms. Chernyshova works in? I'll travel accross the country to put my papers in if I could avoid the delay.

May all of your adoptions go thru with lightning speed once the foreign countries see the love and energy you are willing to give to those in their country who need it!

generalmar,

Ms. Chernyshova works in the Kiev office of the NAC (the only one). Checking dossiers is not her primary obligation, and she has a lot of duties beyond that. She is also the one now signing letters of invitation, and a family can't see her personally unless they have an appointment (typically, a second appointment, the first one they visit only with the psychologist).

Sincerely,
Victoria

Nice to hear from you Victoria

You always have good information. If she doesn't throw them out on some trumped up reason, do you know about how long it is taking to get an invite from NAC. I realize you have to guess, or go by what you have seen before and each dossier is different. Would you give it your best shot.

Again nice to see you on the forum again.

Dear praisehim,

unfortunately, at the moment I am as much at a loss as you are. I think now it's more a matter of luck -- and maybe persistance on the side of your POA. The last news I have from the facilitators I work with is that one family was issued an invitation last Friday -- so something is happening, just not a lot.

Take care,
Victoria

medical form numbers?

Does anyone know what kind of numbers the NAC is looking for regarding the new medical form? For most of the information required there are no specific tests, so do we perhaps write down insurance numbers?? When we took that form to our drs. they told us the same thing - other than number dates. I would hate for people to be rejected for something minor like numbers that have no meaning, so perhaps Victoria, or someone else who has had experience with the new medical form, could enlighten us it would be very helpful to everyone.

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE,
Sharon

I can do all things through God who gives me strength.

Dear Sharon,

the numbers can really be random. In Ukraine, each test that goes to the lab, is assigned a number, and later on those test results can be looked up using the number. You can use any numbers as long as they are unique. Typically, you can use insurance billing numbers -- I think they bill for each test done separately, or you can use any other numbers of your choice. NAC will not go through extra trouble of verifying whether they are correct, I guess they simply would check-off this requirement their own checklist.

Good luck,
Victoria

I see that you stated that stay at home moms needed a statement stating such?
Can you give me an example of a typical statement? I am a SAHM and I did not see that on my dossier list, but have recently heard the same. We are in the process of the dossier paperwork and I really would like to do it correctly.
Does it have to be notarized and apostilled as well?
Also for the medical exam, the numbers you are referring to are just needed for the lab work?

Thanks so much!

Dear honeybeeto4,

please e-mail me privately and I will send you the form I use. It has to be notarized and apostilled just like any other document. And for the medical, you are right, it is just the HIV and Syphilis test results.

Sincerely,
Victoria

Update?

Does anyone have a current update on how the processing is going at the NAC? You rarely hear of anyone getting appointments lately and on other boards they are really focusing on how slow things are moving is this normal?

I am beginning to wonder if this is a bad sign?

JTR
