Hi Paul
Not very much to go on there, you need to get a bit more info on the situation at the time. Your adoption agency should have a lot more to tell you than that. Was Sheila Agnes her full name? Is Agnes a surname? Have you searched the marriage index for a marriage for her? She probably has a married name now. Even if she was married when you were adopted, she could have divorced and remarried since. How long was she at the last address you have for her? Have you checked the Electoral Registers in that area for the year(s) after she left that address? Have you checked to see if she had any further children after you were adopted? Are you certain that the adoption agency concerned has given you all the information that would help you to find your mother? It was many years before Barnardo's gave me parts of the information I needed to find some members of my family, simply because I didn't realise they had that information. Never be afraid to ask again and insist on seeing the records. Have you had access to you records at the agency or local authority that supervised the adoption (Guardian ad Litem record) or / and the Court that granted your Adoption Order?
