Adopting your partner's child
I was wondering if anyone knew the laws regarding the adoption of your partner's (not married, only cohabiting) child.

I believe it is usual to get a Residence Order [see Sections 8 and 9 of the 1989 Children Act and Volume 1 of The Children Act 1989 - Guidance and Regulations] first for a period of time, it then becomes easier to apply for adoption of a partner's child.
