Transracial adoption

We are in the early stages of the adoption process. We are hoping to adopt a AA older sibling group. If anyone could give me some pointers or feedback I would really appreciate it. Thanks.......

Hi....
We adopted an AA boy...He was a newborn. But I wanted to give you some advice that I have learned as a new mom. Our adoption happened fast and sudden and I was not fully prepared. I would recommend do some reading on specific care of AA children....skin, hair, etc. At the time of the adoption I did not know what specific additional care my son's skin was going to need but fortunately for me I have friends and family who I can ask. But since u will be adopting an older sibling group u may not have the same issues. Good luck on your adoption.

I agree with cscrivner (?), do some research before the adoption and life will be much easier. My wife and I adopted a bi-racial little boy at birth (09/2001) and his dry skin and AA hair has been really a challenge for us. We have really fallen in love with some baby products called "Soft and Precious" out of Tampa,FL. We tried the typical hair products for babies, but his hair kept too dry or would just look nasty and wouldn't comb out for us. We got the Soft and Precious hair wash and life is good. We wouldn't trade our son for anything and would do it again, but we wish we had done more research before hand. We have great friends to ask all types of questions, and that also helps..

The website for Soft and Precious is:

Good Luck!!!!!
