Haitian Adoption
My husband and I are going to adopt from Haiti. We go to Haiti every year for mission trips. We have made many friends and have fallen in love with the children there.
I would really like to talk to someone who has adopted a child from Haiti or has adopted black children from other countries. I would love to hear from you. Thanks A. Cooper |

Hatian adoption
I know several people who have adopted from Haiti. We tried to adopt a child from Haiti about 11 years ago. The first agency we worked with was Building families through adoption (MN Based) they went bankrupt about a week after they accepted our application fee. Then we worked with Small Miracles international out of Oklahoma. We were very excited and because we got a referral right away of a 3 month old girl. Two weeks before we were to go get her, we were told that the orphanage was demanding more money and that the Agency was severing ties with the orphanage. We were heart broken. I talked to a parent who had been along on the trip, and she told me that it was no use. Her childrens' birthmother (Who was dying of Aids) came with her to the orphanage to plead that they be allowed to be adopted-the people at the orphanage grabbed the children and tore them
away from them. -So we ended up adopting a An African American child and and are now in the process of adopting our 5 year old son-adopted from US foster care..... So here is what I know that could help you. The only reputable orphanage I know of is run by a woman named Gladys Syvester. The name of the orphanage is Rainbow of Love. Last time I checked she was affilated with Dillon International in the US.. there is also an agency called World Harvest for Christ who contacted me once---but I don't know much about them. I know Rainbow of Love accepts volunteer help and Iknow that they work hard to determine the health of each child. Gladys is a Registered Nurse who was educated in the US. I believe the orphanage is near Port a Prince. let me know if I can help. Pammuppet@hotmail.com |
