Red Tails: the movie

The Tuskegee airmen. While this movie brings to the major mainstream media (this is not the first movie made) it brings to light what AA military had to endure to be seen as equal. Overall this is a great movie for all to see.. American history. George Lucas is the executive producer, and the story behind the making of the movie is also interesting. Apparently, the odds are against the success of the movie due to its majority Black cast, please support this movie.

History is my passion. Let's just say that Matthew has been a Red Tail fan for a long time already. He see's a photo of a black pilot and he points to the photo and then to himself. If it's a white pilot, He doesn't do it. The little guy knows!

And he's ready for the movie too!

I am very excited for this movie too. I was born in Dayton Ohio, just a few miles from the Wright Brother's bicycle shop. My grandparents and aunts and uncles are buried in the same cemetary and not too far from them. My grandpa was a tailgunner in a B17 in the European theater during WWII. I love aviation history and military history. The story of the Tuskeegee Airmen would be a great story just for their military air superiority. When you add in all that they went through because of their race to accomplish this feat, then you have a fanastic story. My baby boy is only 3 and he doesn't get it yet. I will definately get this on video when it comes out so that he can watch it and learn from it when he's old enough.

How cute is he in the uniform! I learned that some of the Tuskegee wives were pilots as well. Oh boy, one barrier at a time back then.

Gwen72 I plan on getting the DVD too.

Known as WASP's in the US. My middle daughter did a history day project on them and got to spend time with a former WASP pilot. An amazing lady.

Not sure if it's violent, but I want the kiddies to see it so they can see the struggle we've had and progess we've made.

I saw it tonight. So great! I was beaming with pride when I walked out of there. I do wonder how these heroes felt when they came home and had to deal with all the bigotry again. I'm off to do some deeper reading on the subject!

I liked it too, good action movie! Lots of historical information out there. I was also glad that we got to meet our local Tuskegee airman before he died.
