New to board
Hi all, I've been lurking for a little bit and decided to join. DH and I (both CC) have 2 beautiful girls. DD#1 is 2 yo, AA/CC. DD#2 is 8mo, AA/CC/Vietnamese. Both were newborn, domestic adoptions.
I've been reading a lot of the threads about how families get looked at because they look different. It's funny, but lately I've become so busy just doing the 'mom thing', that I barely notice it. I live in Kansas City, which is pretty laid back most of the time. But it was a different story when DD#2 and I visited Grandma and Grandpa in rural Wisconsin. "Is that baby yours?" Yes. "When did you have her?" (an obvious search to see if I had sex with someone of a different race, or adopted). She is 6 months old. I had tried explaining to my parents about the comments we sometimes get when in public, but it was good for my mom to experience it herself. She relates a little better about that stuff now. I kind of find it amusing sometimes. I realize that I can't control other people, so I've learned to not get too worked up about uneducated observers. |

In my situation honestly, I can understand why people who stare and ask questions. After all, how many times have you seen two Black lesbians with an Asian child? Probably never...
Long story short, DP and I stand out a lot and quite frankly people are curious and don't know how to react with they see us together.
