Apparently I look like I'm a 33 year old "Grandma"

Lady wearing Pajamas at Pediatricians office: ***looks at me, looks at my 3 year old who looks like a 5 year old, looks back at me, looks back at him....stares some more at me....stares some more at him, I'm sure you get the idea*** FIVE minutes of that later very LOUDLY in a crowded room

"Is that your Grandbaby?"

Me NOT wearing my PJ's at the Dr's office:

"no, that's MY baby." Smile to show I wasn't angry at being called Grandma in my early 30's-cause that would be rude, right? Avoid eye contact so as to end conversation....didn't work btw.

Still that was the most creative EVER comment from a stranger trying to understand our family makeup.

I was once asked if my DD was my grandbaby. I looked at the girl and said, just how old do you think I am? Put it right back on her. (I was 38 at the time so a little older than 33) She quickly changed to say, your baby is so cute. Thought so.

At first I thought she was saying you looked old but then I realize it's because of the race of your child. So weird. I never knew people would say that.

That's pretty bad, but I can one up you I was at a friend's co-ed baby shower with my three bio kids (9, 6, & 3). I was also 33 at the time (last year). An older relative of the guest of honor thought I was my kids grandmother!!!!! WTH? I'm not being vain when I say that I do not look older than my age.

Well, I always say if you are going to lie about your age you should lie up. I figure if I start telling everyone I am 80, they will say I look great. If I say 21, they will wonder what the heck happened. I don't want to know if I look older than my real age, but I probably do. LOL

When my son was 1 or 2, I had the same thing happen. My mom, ds and I were at SAMS, and the cashier said something about him being my grandbaby. I was 38 or 39 at the time, but have usually passed for younger than my age. It certainly put me in my place! Maybe I should start bathing in anti-aging cream

I can totally sympathize with this feeling. I am cc, and today as I was picking my oldest up from school I had my other two sons (all three AA, and handsome) with me and one of them said "mommy..." and this woman I have stood near all of this school year commented, "oh, those are your kids. I thought you were the babysitter!" He goes to a really diverse grade school too! I was floored!

Honestly- people just make the RUDEST comments!!!!
But, consider the source: a lady, in her pj's, at the pediatrician's office. Enough said, right!
