We belong to a transracial adoptive families group and I suggested that maybe we have a parent's night out to go see this movie. No one has replied yet, but I'm dying to see it!

9/07 - Matched with birthmom through a mutual friend 11/30/07 - Homestudy complete! 2/27/08 - Match failed - birthmom never signed papers  5/5/08 - signed with new agency 5/12/08 - chosen by birtmom! 6/8/08 - it's a girl! 6/17/08 - Home forever with our little girl! 12/15/08 - FINALIZED!   5/7/09 - Homestudy approved for #2! 1/27/09 - present - several leads, but none have panned out.

I saw today's Oprah too. The movie looks very interesting from a transracial mom point of view and very funny from a Chris Rock fan point of view.

I saw the movie about 2 weeks ago. It was great! I don't know if non African Americans not involved in the beauty biz would totally understand it but the movie is very good. African American women have always had a love/hate/intimate/complex relatiomship with their hair and seeing it on screen was funny. Does my Af Am husband touch my hair--NOPE! he knows better! (You have to see the movie to understand that one!)

LOL once Dh knew me well enough in the early dating days he said I am so glad you do not have a weave. He likes long hair, and a few women fooled him in the past. I
was never a weave person, nor pieces or wigs. The first time I used pieces in my hair was last year when I was transitioning to natural hair, and had my hair braided. That lasted a hot month, could not take it. lol

Well I have been needing to respond to all of the hair threads and I guess I will do it here because I have seen the movie and it made me SO MAD and sad for my daughter.
I think that the lengths that black women go to in terms of their hair is deeply rooted in racism and lack
