Just wanted to say "thank you!"
I have lurked on this forum for a LONG time. I'm not sure if I'm contributed much here - except maybe to say how adorable a baby is!
But I wanted to just tell you all "thank you" from the bottom of my heart. My dh and I are currently working on getting signed on with 2 agencies. For both agencies, we are enrolling in the programs where the situations will be for babies who are AA, biracial, or any multiracial situations. (Okay, someone stop me if that wasn't a correct choice of words!) Prior to this, my dh and I have tried to learn all we can about transracial adoption. This has always been something I've been drawn to in my heart, although I can't put into words why. We read "Inside Transracial Adoption" and took an online course. However, the MOST helpful research was on THIS forum! Reading your read-world stories and advice has helped us so much. We don't feel like we're going into this blindly or too naively. Thank you for sharing your joys, sad times, family issues, stressful times, and everything inbetween. You have all taught my dh and I so much!! I look forward to participating in this forum more in the future.

I Agree!
I read books and articles
about transracial adoption and I still didn't feel confident enough in myself to adopt transracially. Then I found this forum and it CHANGED MY LIFE! I read about all these people who have been where I was and how they overcame some of the issues that came along with transracial familes. I knew what to expect before it happened and how to make it better. We had started out requesting a full CC baby only, because we were afraid of how our family would handle it. They had actually had a hard time placing three AA boys while we were waiting. We prayed to God and pleaded that all we wanted was a child, and it was like... "well, I sent you three and you turned them away!" To make a long long long story shorter (kinda) We opened out hearts and minds and our BEAUTIFUL baby girl L was born a month and a half after we opened up to AA. I've lost a few family members who still chose to believe that this was not the best situation for us or our daughter, but it's their loss! Now I get the joy being with my beautiful daughter everyday and taking her out and about so she can announce to everyone she meets.... "I FARTED!" lol... the joys of motherhood!!!!
