Sand in Hair

Hi, we are getting ready to go to the beach soon and I was wondering what you all do to get the sand out of your child's hair? I had read some where that it was harder to get it out of AA children's hair. Our daughter is 8 months old. Thank you for any input

It was always hard to get it out of my hair. Especially because I (most AA's) have some sort of oil product in their to begin with and it seems the sand gets stuck in there. I would just wash it when I got home. Once though I didnt wash and within the next few weeks I had silver dollar bald spots in my hair!! NOT FUN

Boy does it ever get stuck in there! I swear David looks like he's got gray hair after playing in the sand. He likes roll around in it and pour it on his head. I've solved the problem by keeping his hair really short. (Not an option in your case, of course.) But a good shampoo gets it out.

First, get a good baby beach hat. That will help a lot. The other thing that helps is having a sprayer in the bathtub so that you can really spray the stuff out. Use a lot of conditioner and while it is still in, comb carefully through the hair with a comb. Start on the ends and slowly untangle it working your way to the root. When you have it all untangled, slowly pull the comb from the root to the end and then use the sprayer.

You can also grab them by the ankles and dunk them up and down into the bathtub. JUST KIDDING!
