Angry Uggh! Tell me this DIDN'T happen!!!!

So, just last week we spent 3 hrs and a good chunk of $ at a salon (I learned a lot more and highly recommend it!)....mostly so my DD doesn't look like the kid of a caucasian mom who is clueless!!!

So today, my little darling dug the scissors out and CUT HER HAIR!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna cry...it was beautiful! The back was salvageable but the front looks awful, no nice smooth surfaces there...

guess I just needed to vent. Anyone else had anything similar happen? What did you do?

thanks

*by the way, I get it that in the big picture this is a minor minor problem! I'm just feeling sorry for myself, took pride in what we've been able to do with her hair

Oh dear. Had you taken the holiday pictures yet?

I'm sorry! If it's any consolation at all in my experience (I teach K and 1st) almost every kids does this at least once.

Lololol...

Sorry but it IS funny -- unless you are the mom. My stepdaughter's 4 yo cut the 2 yos hair last year...LOL. Fortunately AFTER she got the 2yo's birthday pictures done.

Good thing hair grows back. My friends and family members have had more kids cut off their hair than I can count! Better than one of my cousins who plucked out her EYELASHES when she was 3 or 4.

My son got gum in his hair and WE had to cut it. It's always something.

My daughter has gorgeous hair. She was 3.5 and we had never cut it. One day a few weeks ago, I said, "OMG! You have bangs!" She said, "Yeah, mama, I cut my own hair with my scissors!" (mind you these were the plastic scissors...to be honest, she didn't do THAT bad a job..haha). So we had to take her in for her first hair cut...sniff!! It does look cute, but i feel your pain!!

I feel your pain, unfortunately all kids I know under the age of 5 have done this. Most recently, my cousin, who was four at the time cut her hair. My grandmother watched her during the day while my aunt worked. My grandma told Tanner that she would wash her hair after lunch. About fifteen minutes later, Tanner asked my grandma to wash her hair now and my grandma said a liitle bit later. So Tanner went into my grandmother's drawer, pulled out the scissors and cut off one of her ponytails. She walked into the kitchen where my grandmother was at and said she cut her hair off because it was dirty. My grandma didn't know what to say, but dreaded calling my aunt. My aunt wasn't upset at my grandma, but she wasn't happy either. Tanner is now 9 years old and her hair is very long and you can't tell she had ever cut off a section of her hair. Because of this, all scissors in my home will be locked up with the medicines.

I don't remember doing this to myself, but I do remember literally having my grandmother put a bowl on my head and cut around it!!! (I shoulda cut my own hair!).

I think it's like one of the previous posters wrote in that I've not known ANY children under the age of five who've NOT done this---at least once! Sad, I know....it's happened with each of our babies.......five to be exact---and each time it's happened, I'm always wondering WHY I didn't watch the scissors more!!!!!!! LOL

Sincerely,

Linny

just wanted to say to whomever it was that cut hair because it had gum in it, next time just put a big ole glob of peanut butter on the gum and massage it around and the oil will break up the gum and it comes right out. butter or oil will also work.

my sister was babysitting once and when the mom of the boy she was babysitting came to pick him up my sister says "oh, the kids are upstairs, they have been playing so nice and quietly". Imagine her dismay when she saw the reason why! My five year old neice had cut his hair all off! Luckily it was a boy and the mom just gave him a buzz cut, but can you imagine how embarrassed my sister was?! I still chuckle all these years later.
