What color was your AA baby's eyes at 1mth?
I'm just curious! My DD's birthmom commented on her eye color when she looked at pics...so I was wondering if her eye color might not be the norm! My DD's birth Great Grandfather had blue eyes...and there is some Caucasian, and American Indian 2 generations back on the birthmom side of the family!
Anyway! Her eyes are a dark dark blue with green around the edge! What were child's at 1 mth of age?!

Its fairly uncommon for children of African/African-American and Asian decent to have blue eyes. But I have known a few cases. More than likely though, they will change to hazel or brown eyes.

Well, my dh is Metis. His bmom was First Nations, his bdad was Swedish/Norwegian. I'm CC.
Our son started off as a blue eyed blonde. His hair has darkened to brown, but still has denim blue eyes. Our dd has brown eyes and hair. Genetics are funky. ETA: I realize we're not an AA situation, but just wanted to say that since the gparents had blue eyes, its very possible.

DDs eyes have been dark brown since we met her at 3 days old. Before we met her though, I did wonder if they'd be dark blue for a while since I know most babies are born with blue...wasn't sure if many AA babies were born with blue or not. Obviously, they'd later change to brown if a baby is full AA with no non-AA ancestors.

I have yet to meet an AA, child or adult, who has blue eyes. I suppose anything is possible, but still...reminds me of "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison, but that's way off topic.
DD's eyes were light green at birth, and her bmom (whose eyes are also green) was hoping they would remain so. DD is biracial. Her eye color has changed over time, and is now (at 8 months) medium brown in some shades of light, and they look dark green in others. People still do a double take when they notice the change. Maybe there are some optometrists or opthalmologists who can give us an idea about when the eyes attain their permanent colour? DD's stopped changing when she was about 5 months old.

My DD's eyes were brown. She's AA/Hisp. She has a sister (same birthparents) who has crystal blue eyes.!! She's the spitting image of my DD only with light brown hair and blue eyes. Their Bfather is AA and has light Hazel eyes. Their Bmom is Hispanic and has dark brown eyes.

Blue, too.
Our oldest son's eyes were blue until almost 1 year old, then they looked more green/brown, and now at 3 years they are a light light brown. Both his Birthparents are African-American. As a previous poster said, genetics are weird!

My DD's eyes are black. I know that may not make sense but her brown is so brown you can barely make out the pupil. My girlfriend and her husband's children were born in S. America and she said the people in that region refer to it as black eyes. DD has a lot of people in her background that have brown eyes, AA, Na.Am, Asian, and Italian. They have been that way since the day she was born and haven't changed. She even refers to her eye color as black because that is the way she sees them.

We have a variety of browns, in our AA family.. light to very dark brown in my family. DD had light brown eyes, as a baby, as a toddler, its now a medium brown, she always receives compliments for her pretty eyes,.. for its color, and doe shape. One of dh's sisiters had hazel eyes as a young child. I have seen Blacks with blue, or a blue gray, hazel, it's not common.. since brown is a dominant gene. however it does occur. I actually saw one such kid with gray/blue eyes this past week. I agree with those that genetics can be interesting, the genetic background is what counts, not the fact that the child has a cc/aa or aa/aa parents etc;

If there is a known history of Caucasian in the family, no matter how far back, anything is possible with genetics! My God-daughter is Biracial and has beautiful hazel eyes. Another friend has a biracial daughter, he is from St. Lucia and she is French with dark hair& brown eyes. Their daughter has light brown hair & blue eyes. A friend of my husbands has a son with red hair & brown eyes, they are BOTH "full" AA. The mother had a grandmother way way way way back that was white with red hair.
Anything is possible Deb
