If both AA's have CC in their racial back ground (which is very common) then blue eyes can happen. My sister married a man who came from Pakistan and their son has blue eyes. You would think a man from Pakistan would have both dominant genes but apparently he also carried the blue recessive that was picked up in past somewhere...

My son's eyes were sort of gray but they turned brown shortly there after. It is completely possible for an AA person to have blue eyes if both parents have either blue eyes themselves or a recessive blue eye gene. Obviously somewhere in their history they each have to have a Caucasian ancestor.

My DS has blue eyes for the longest time. He is AA. Now they are hazel/green. Sometimes they are hazel with a yellow outline. My daughter (his bio sis) had grey eyes for a while. She now has light brown eyes.

Lily's eyes were so dark at first your couldn't even see her pupils. They are a little lighter now but still brown almost black. I have a friend who is AA/CC and her mother told me that a lot of AA babies (at least in their family) are born with very dark eyes with a faint blue around the edges that goes away with in the first month.

My son's eyes were (and are) black (he is biracial--half West African). In fact, people often think they are blue because they are so black that they reflect the colors he is wearing (often blue)!

What is Metis? Is it a Native tribe?

Genetics are funky.
ETA: I realize we're not an AA situation, but just wanted to say that since the gparents had blue eyes, its very possible.

All 4 of our AA or biracial children now have brown eyes but our son, who is biracial and has a maternal grandmother with blue eyes, had that blueness around his eyes when he was young. They're now beautiful brown. I've known quite a few AA folks with eyes other than brown and it is a beautiful combination when the skin of an individual is brown and the eyes are a lighter color. I'm a brown-eyed redhead and have always wished for green eyes.

This is what my son's eyes are like, too - so dark that they reflect the colors around him. They are really beautiful. A lot of people comment on his eyes.

A woman I often sit next to at church is a dark complexioned AA woman with light blue eyes. It's quite striking. Obviously unusual, but possible.
