I COMPLETLY understand the desire to adopt a children based on past experiences (visiting orphanages, other countries ect..)
I am a foster/adoptive mother & was open ot any race - my 1st placement (now adopted son) is bi-racial & I have to admit I am impartial to AA/ bi-racial babies. In the store when I see a aa/ bi-racial baby my heart melts (because of my experience raising my son from 3 months to now 4) but when I see a cc baby I'm like "oh she's cute" I would only consider adopting a aa/bi-racial child at this point in my life because of my internal indescribable feelings & I want my son to have a sibling that has "brown skin like him" - he notices these things - I provide repsite on the weekends & when we get a brown boy - he is over the moon!! (if they don't touch his toys) - when we get girls (even if their brown) he tolerates them. Everybody falls in love w/ a person not a skin color but than that love has a desire to extend to another person-again, my cc heart melts over a aa/bi-racial baby. Good luck in your adoption journey - gay/lesbians can foster/adopt in TX - you may want to check w/your state - adopting from foster care is free & I've seen plenty of CC,AA, bi-racial, hispanic children in the system - I've never seen Asian-just my little part of the world. As a CC mom, I feel the need to apologize for these ignorant people. I would never ask (or even think), "How did you get a white baby" or "Who is her mother"? I think some people are nosy and make stupid comments. I smile to myself when I see others with diverse families. I hope someday we can all enjoy a world where color is what it is - just another factor like eye color or hair color.

I photographed an amazing woman over the summer that is AA, and her son (foster-to-adopt) is CC.
AND-she is single. I just loved her. She had such an amazing spirit.

Thanks Dallas for your post!
Wow, your pictures are beautiful Dallas! I guess there are more of us than we think, African-American parents and Caucasian children.

Partly because I live in a predominantly CC community these comments always come from CC people. AA people tend to assume that she is just an extremely fair skinned AA child and go about their business
