Safe/Unsafe stopping while travelling

Hi,
Hate to have to even ask this....but DD at 18 mos old and I are probably driving a considerable distance this weekend. Plan on stopping somewhere in N. Ill or N Indiana for the night. Any knowledge out there of places that a CC mom and AA babe would be better off avoiding? Or know of a great place? :-)

Northern IL and IN are pretty diverse areas and you'll most likely not run into any issues...just stay somewhere close to town...rather than out in the boonies

Any idea what highway you will be driving on? I might be able to give some tips on places based on that...

I believe we'll be taking 39South to 74East. Then South around Indianapolis, not sure hwy #.... Urbana is about halfways for us, but where will depend on DD
