Multicultural Families
Hello Everybody,
I was just wondering if there are any people out there who have multiple children of different races. For instance, when I have children I plan to adopt, and I want to adopt from China, Haiti and Nigeria as well as domestically. I was wondering if there was any one who either grew up as a child in that kind of family, is growing up now in that type of family or parented/is parenting a family like that. Just interested. Thanks, Ruth

Ruth,
Our family is Multi Racial. If that counts. DH & I are Caucasian with 2 caucasian bio children. Then we adopted a Biracial (AA/CA) daughter. Then a full AA daughter & a full AA son.It is very interesting having a "Rainbow Family" as our 4 year old calls us.

Yes, we are. We are both seemingly Caucasian.
We adopted our first baby--a daughter-- from Korea while we were stationed overseas. Around 18 months later, we adopted our first son, born in Japan. Several years later, we went the 'older child route', and adopted two times---total of three boys (all Caucasian). Many years from that....we went the private domestic route, and brought home our daughter who is AA, and two years later, our other daughter who is also AA. We have recently made the decision to search for another AA baby girl. Our children now range in age from 24 to 20 months. We continue to have four children at home. Wild and crazy? You bet! Wouldn't want it any other way, though! Best of luck with your plans!!!! Sincerely, Linny Last edited by Linny : 02-03-2005 at 09:43 PM. |

We are quite multi-cultural in our home as well. I am Caucasian - a true American mixed breed. My husband is from Trinidad and is a sexy mix of Black, Spanish, French and Portuguese. DS was adopted from Haiti and DD is Black American. We are hoping to adopt another Black American infant sometime this year.
We have thus far enjoyed exposing our kids to as much of our respective cultural backgrounds and theirs. Even though they're young (two and one), they seem to enjoy it also. There are bound to be challenges but we're ready to take them on, whatever they are.
