I am doing a research project for Pepperdine Univeristy on the effects of transracial adoption. I will be comparing 20 transracial adoptees to 20 same-race adoptees through 3 simple surveys/questionairres. Would anyone be interested in a phone/email interview of the sort? THANK YOU!

Absolutely,
We adopted our AA daughter in July and are in the process of adopting a sibling set of AA children. We are a C family. |

That's so wondeful! Congratulations. Since I'm actually surveying the adoptees themselves as my sample population it may not work in your situation. How old is your adopted daughter? But I would love to share with you my results. My parents have adopted transracially and I feel my research through the years has benefited them in many ways!

Research
MissaPeach -
I would love to hear more about your research. I'm an adoptee, and think I am multiracial, but might never know the truth. Could you share more info. with me and if I feel comfortable I could maybe help you? Thanks so much. I can tell that your research is important to you and that means alot. Have a great day, Katy |

Why don't you email me at mdjordan@pepperdine.edu and I can send you the survey. That way you can take a look at it and fill it out if you like, but you don't have to! And if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. But just as a summary, I am going to compare the adoptees on three levels: Self esteem, Family functioning, and cultural competencey. I want to see if their is any correlated differences between those adoptees who are inracial adoptees and those who are transracial adoptees. This is actually for a Race and Ethnic Relations class at Pepperdine University, but I have been doing projects on it since high school since my sister was adopted. I believe that it shouldnt be taken lightly and adoptive parents of different races (including my parents) should be prepared for the road ahead so that their children can turn out to be happy, well-adjusted people!
