My fiance and I are looking into forming our family by adopting a child. This is a few years off - we want to be married a little while first! - but we're looking at our options now.

Anyway, I would very much like to adopt AA children (infant or older). I haven't found much information about our particular situation. Are we an AA couple? Would adopting an AA child be a "transracial adoption"? Has anyone here been in an interracial and adopted AA children?

Wonderful you are thinking of adopting! We are not an interacial couple, but my husband was adopted insured of nationality and has olive/tan skin. He likes to say where ever he goes he is.
My guess is would not be considered a transracial adoption. Yet, which ever one of you is white may be treated that way when with the kids and without the spouse. Seeing as you 2 will be family, and they are going to have such a positive AA role model in the house, I would not think it to be transracial issues. If you try for an AA child you would have no problem. AA & interracial adoptive parents are in high demand.
