no way to lie - blonde jew
Hi I was adopted by a jewish family at just under 2 weeks of age. I am the most unjewish looking person around - Blonde hair, blue eyes and a pale non jewish complexion. There was no way for my aparents to hide the fact of my adoption from me, nor did they try. I have to say they have been wonderful overall, (even though at first it was difficult for them, made them angry), and have joined me in my 10+ year search.
I know when people think inter racial they think black and white, well we are all 'white' but there is a difference even still anfd it only adds to my questions of where I came from and WHO I LOOK LIKE. Is there anyone else with this kind of issue... not so black and white??? |

I used to date a guy who was 6'2", blonde, with blue eyes. And he is as Jewish as the day is long. I'm sure it's a unique experience to look like no one in your family due to being adopted, but if anyone questions you on it, I think they have issues with stereotyping Jews and other groups, and it should be pointed out to them.

not about others, sorry for confusion
I really appreciate all the support that I have found about these boards/forums today. I thank everyone here, admisistrators to guests
![]() In terms of this posting - I think I may have worded it wrong. My issue is about my own feelings. I'm glad you pointed out blonde jews exist, as do jews of every race and creed, (including all the black etheopian jews ![]() It's just not the norm for the russian descended family I have been raised in. The feeling I have are not due to any bad on my loving aparents behalf, nor are they caused by any outside influence. This posting was about my feelings, those I have had since early childhood. If you can bear with me I will recount a short childhood memory. I was walking with my family, (knew I was adopted and knew this was my family), but for some reason I lagged behind, felt like I wasn't a part of something I was seeing. I remember noting how my sister (parents bio) looked so much like them and how, as a threesome, they looked so perfect. I felt like I marred that image. Again, this is NOT something caused by outside influence of my aparents or anything else. It was something that has been in me beyond memory. Perhaps a result of 'losing' someone so close to me for reasons beyond my comprehension? Perhaps just my makeup, how my personal brain is wired? I wonder... but in any case I am terribly sorry for the confusion I seemed to have caused here. Thank you for providing me with a space to share my feelings concerning my adoption. This has been helpful as support and in clarifying some things for and about myself ![]() Good luck to everyone touched by adoption with their journey. |

moonlight...
I have your same looks, except green eyes. My a-mom always had a great story of my wealthy jewish parents who simply traveled too much for a child. I never believed her, but I wasn't mad cause I knew she was just trying to paint a pretty picture for me. Also I knew she would want me to think I was BORN jewish, lest I ever decide to change! LOL The REALLY funny part is.....when I got my non id info, it said my b-dad was jewish! Boy did I laugh! That was the ONE thing I was sure of, that I WASN'T jewish by birth. WRONG! So now I have 5 of the most non jewish looking kids! little noses, light eyes, fair skin and light hair. Go figure! lol Love, Debi
