Holiday gift..

This year I made our bmom an album/scrapbook.

To recap on us, we have a semi-open adoption that consists of photos only and no other contact per the bmom. It might change, it just all depends on her and where she is at in her life and I am more than ok with that...Our daughter is almost 3.

Anyway, I struggled with whether or not to give her bmom something for chirstmas or wait until her birthday which is Jan3, to send something...but I made the album. I even included a home movie and photo slideshow on DVD for her....I never know if I am crossing the emotional line- but I guess if she doesn't want to watch it she doesn't have to, right?

I am curious what others in similar situations do during the holidays for bparents if anything?

Merry Christmas everyone.

I totally understand! I went back and forth as to what to do for the girls birthmom for Christmas.

In the end I made her a calendar (with pictures of the girls on each month), and the girls picked her out items while we were on vacation.

Here are some of the 'top' pages from the calendar

I did a small photo album for Hannah's 1st birthday last year and plan to do another one this year. For Xmas I just send a Xmas card - which is a photocard of both my daughters and include a portrait we'd had done of Hannah. Ours is a semi-open adoption - it's probably different for folks with an open adoption.

Diane love the idea of the calendar...must remember for next year.

We also have a semi-open adoption. We sent a locket with our sons picture, his Christmas picture in a frame and other current photos of him. I also include a letter to update her on anything and everything that he says, does, weight and etc.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Michelle

I'm sad tonight. I had the gift (album/scrapbook, DVD of daughter, and roses) delivered to the last known address I was given just 3 months ago, (workplace) and they called today to say the bmom is no longer employed there.

So not only did she not get the gift we made for her for christmas, we don't even know where she is......

Oh I am sorry to hear that!

Hopefully the agency will be able to reconnect you soon!

No, she doesn't keep in contact with the agencies (she has 2 different agencies that she has placed two infants with and a third child she simply went thru a lawyer) so I don't think our situation is "normal". I wish we had have had more involvement from the agency and more concern about all of us involved after the ink dried on the adoption papers......(sigh)
