Even though we don't have fancy hairstyles, may I show the puff? Took last week (DD is with BIL, B is with dad)

Red, I think the 2 stranded flat twist is even easier than a french braid!

Anyways, she looks great with the puffs! Looks like she and Big D have about the same amount of hair. And not every one can get a decent puff going. We have seen some kids with mangled hairstyles (including puffs).

Okay, if it is so easy then I may be back for information when she demands something more of me.

Healthier and easier to maintain, after they are passed the beginning stages.

Leaabc123 - I can totally respect your preference. Just a thought tho, haircare, including relaxers, cuts, even fancier braided and locked styles when done at a salon, are typically a normal and expected family expense. Your child may be the only one paying for those necessities with a job . Also "healthier and easier to maintain" is really in the eye of the beholder as not all ppl develop the skills or have the desire to care for and style natural hair. I just wanted to encourage an open mind is all, since dd will be the one who has to style it every day.

Sneezy, I should correct myself here. And we have years before this is actually reality but when our kids are old enough to work. They will have certain expectations if they want things beyond what we are willing to provide. This would include clothing (or more expensive clothing), recreation, etc. For example, she wants sneakers that cost 200.00. Our budget for sneakers is 80.00. She would be expected to kick in the extra out of her job or allowance savings. The same would go for hair care.

Employment is an expectation when they are old enough. Even if it is only in the summers or on weekends. We feel it will be important for our kids to understand money and how much work it takes, as well as the importance of saving and having a budget. Things we weren't really taught.

My hope is that she would be happy with what she has and not try to change because she thinks her hair isn't good enough, etc. If she had other reasons, maintanance, etc, then it would certainly be discussed and hopefully alternatives will have been looked at. I hope that makes more sense. I realize I may have sounded judgemental before, my apologies.

I do think if I can take care of it as it is. I should have no problem showing her how to or having our extended family show her.

Thanks for the website. Could you post a close up picture of one of the snaps. I think I understand how they look and work but I want to be sure. I did go to the site but they are hard to see.

The pics are hard to see. I don't have any close ups but the snaps that I have are the heart and star shapes in the 6th and 7th row of the barettes section.

Do the clips snap around the end of a pony tail instead of using a rubber band or barrette? Are they about the size of a dime or bigger?

Sorry that I have so many questions. I think I get the idea of what they are but want to be sure before I buy.

I went back and looked at the first pic you posted and I think I saw a light pink heart clip. Are those the clips we are talking about?

Ok, here is little D who generally takes out her hair at night so we redo it every day. The pics aren't great as she doesn't stay still too long.

Blessed, the snaps are about the size of a dime I guess. I have been using them instead of rubberbands at the ends of braids and twists. In these pics, the snaps are the light blue hearts on the ends.

zulu knots with 2 strand flat twist bangs. Used black bands around the knots to help them stay in longer.

i want to learn how to do knots. i was just on the elevator with a woman wearing them and i love how they look. so i asked her if she did them herself and she tried to explain how, but on a 5 second elevator ride, you just don't get the full effect . i think maybe my daughters hair is too thin for them, but could you explain your process!
