Hello I am new to this site and just wanted to say hi. I have an 19 month old little girl named Abigail. I am a new mom so i m a little unsure about what I am doing. I need to start potty training her but have no idea how to go by doing that. So if you could please help me out I would appreciate it.

No rush

19 months is a little early to start potty-training, although some girls are ready by then. There are lots of articles on-line about potty-training. Check out:

The most important first step is making sure that your daughter is showing signs of readiness.

Charmin offers a free potty-training starter kit. You can order it at:

Good luck!!

I heard that if you try potty training when a child is 1 year old it will take several months, at one and a half, it will take maybe a month or two. If you wait until 2, maybe two weeks. It's probably better to wait. My daughter was 2 and sure enough it took 1 week. Although all kids are different, I'm sure this won't work with my son who is so different. Good luck

Although some kids may be ready this early (usually girls), 19 months is still quite young for most kids. I started mine around age two (two boys, 1 girl) by having them come to the washroom with me, teaching them the appropriate "vocabulary" and then waiting for them to express interest in trying it out themselves. That worked for all three of mine- dd was trained before age 3, ds's by 3 1/2

potty training

Hi, my daughter is 21 months old. She is showing some interest in pottying. I will take her into the bathroom and she will "potty" with me on her chair. Is your daughter showing any interest? Such as telling you she is wet or dirty? She takes her diaper off and can pull her pants down? I feel 19 months is a little young, I am a firm believer in they will go when they are ready!
