Ok, so what the heck is up with this?

Yesterday, out of the blue, Katie stopped referring to me as Ed-dad or Daddy and has now started referring to me only as Father. She's also calling DW Mother instead of Mom or Mommy. What's cracking my up is her sense of formality when saying it. I really don't know where she might have picked it up. I thought maybe it was a one day thing but when the dogs started barking this morning and woke her up she yelled down "Father, what is going on down there?" I told her that "Momma is home from workie work and the dogs are barking at her." Katie responds, "Have my mother come see me when she gets in" What the.....????

Ed, she never ceases to crack me up!!! And like, yeah, where does she get this?

Although I'm so sick of hearing "MOMMA, MOMMA, MOMMA" 1000 times a day..."Mother" might be a welcome change!!!

My DH did that when she was about 4. Cracked us up for a few days and then she went back to saying Momma and Daddy. She still will say Daddie with an aristocratic English tone though and sometimes says Mother that way too just for fun.

Wait til she adds the sarcastic "dear" on the end of that...

"Yes, Mother/Father DEAR..."

Kids!

Oh My GOD!! my son does that! He totally got it from my "mother". She was explaining that she is his "grandmother".

And he always says it with that little dramatic flair
"M-o-t-h-e-r"

Ha! cracks me up!!

Holy smokes! She did that just a bit ago. She handed me a wash cloth as she was taking her bath and said " Here you go, Father dear." This kid is crackin' me up! It is cute so I hope it lasts a little bit. I don't think I want it to last forever though. Seems a bit stuffy for my taste.

That's hilarious. Josh's grandma told him to go give something to his mother the other day and he didn't know who she meant. Whoops on my part! Skipped that vocab word!

Not lately.

She's still doing it today even though she's a little bit cranky. Had to get her up early for preschool. I guess she didn't believe me when I said that she needed to go to sleep last night.

Ed, that is so cute. I have to say that you all were matched perfectly. She cracks you up and you continue to crack us up. Keep it up.
