Potty Regression Help
Nick hadn't had a bowel movement accident in over two weeks. His only pee accidents were very small spots of pee that happened right when he realized he had to run to the potty. We thought we had it licked.
Saturday and Sunday involved two bowel movement accidents and a number of pee accidents. I know regression sometimes happens but no new things have happened as of late and we didn't change our schedule. So, this is random and part of me worries. So, mid-afternoon yesterday and today we have started letting him stand on his stool and pee standing up and that has seemed to cure the pee issue. It's not quite his time to have a bowel movement yet so we don't know how it's going to go just yet. But my question: Did you child experience a potty regression for any reason? Was the reason known? If not, what did you do? What did you do in general? We're being very encouraging and patient, breaking the stickers back out and making a bigger deal of things than we had last week. But this is frustrating! Any advice would be appreciated. ![]()

It's unfortunately normal, Jenna. Both of my boys did that. My 3 1/2 yr old is regressing again, but we just moved to a new state so I am hoping once he feels more settled, it will stop!
Just keep encouraging him and try not to make a huge deal out of accidents. The "newness" of going potty has worn off and he's too busy to stop and go now. Hang in there, and huge hugs for the toddler mom! ETA: Watch him carefully. My oldest, once he started standing to pee, well, he tried standing for everything! ![]()

Ah, yes. The "newness" has probably worn off. I didn't really think of that one.
And yes, we've been afraid he would have a bowel movement standing up! HA! Kids!

Jenna,
I don't know but I think it can happen with girls too. Kelcee went thru putting her diapers back on for about 2 weeks because she kept pee peeing in her pants and I couldn't stand all the potty and now we are back to normal.

My DD (who will be 3 at the end of the month) "randomly" started asking to wear diapers (not even pullups!) again at night a few weeks ago. I just said "OK." After a few nights, she didn't ask again. I agree....don't make a big deal out of it...I think they like the "attention" they get if you do. Good luck!

My daughter did the same thing, and by the way she is the same age as Nick, only one day older... She was doing so good in potty training, then regressed for about three weeks if not more, she would not tell us when she had to go pee pee, so I was literally taking her every 1.5 to 2 hours to the potty. It was frustrating indeed, because she knew what she was doing, we didn't make a big deal out of it, just repeating to her over and over again, that she needed to use the potty... Eventually, out of the blue, she started telling us when she needed to go, and she has done really good for the past three weeks. She uses a pull up at night, and ocassionally she will wake up in the middle of the night, screaming, that she needs to go potty. I'm not going to be training her at night, until the summer. So,hang in there, he will get there.

Oh, we're nowhere near night training. That doesn't come until they are biologically ready and my heavy, heavy wetter is nowhere NEAR biologically ready. Trust me. He's in a Goodmama with a Super Doubler and a Good Front (read, an eleven layer cloth diaper) covered with a bulletproof PUL cover and he's still soaking it at night... and yes, we restrict fluids before bedtime. He's just not there yet.
As for daytime, bowel movements have returned to the potty (whew) but we're having an issue with pee still. I am trying to remain calm but this is really frustrating. Sigh. Thanks for the stories and encouragement. We'll just keep our hopes up that he will return to his normal self sometime soon! ![]()
