...And naps on weekends

Loveajax's thread made me remember something I've been wanting to ask you all.

I work, so H's weekend routine is different than the rest of the week. He DOES take a nap weekdays for 1-2 hours, but he usually doesn't nap on weekends. He might sleep in by about 45 minutes on Sat. & Sun. morning, probably because the house is quieter w/out DH & I trying to get ready for work, but then he'll just power through the rest of the day.

I don't really mind it, because then he'll usually go to bed a little early, so DH and I can have some time, but I just wondered if this was a common phenomenon.

A long preface to my question: is your weekend nap schedule different than during the week?

Oddly, DD will "fight" my MIL or SIL in terms of napping (which resulted in a late nap) but with us usually crashes around 11:00 - 12:00 on the weekends. I think though that it may be that we are usually out and about and she tends to fall asleep in the car after we do some morning outing.

I read somewhere that at this age, it's not really so important that they nap, just that they get the right number of sleep hours (ack! DD is behind this week!).

DD is 3.5 and weekend naps up until this past month happen but were normally a little later (1 or 2PM). In the past month weekend naps disappeared. Which like you I am fine with. It is actually nice to be able to plan trips / events without trying to schedule around nap times.

She sleeps a little later (45min - 1 hr) on the weekends and she doesn't act out so I think she is still getting the required amt. of sleep.

My girls sleep in on weekends, like by 45 minutes, but we ALL take a nap after lunch.

they are becoming hit or miss here

MAM naps like a champ at daycare during the week, but the weekends are sort of hit or miss. She does sleep in a little, and I've noticed she does better if she goes down a little later (say 2:30 instead of 1pm). And if she completely resists Saturday, she usually go down Sunday or sleep in the car if we're headed out. It's a little crazy, but we try to roll with it...

Kelcee will take a nap on the weekends if it is just her and I. If we at my folks or sisters house not a chance. That usually doesn't happen tho so I get a nap out of her. Anywhere from 1-3 hours. I love it. I'm not a napper but I will lie down on the couch and veg.
