Wow....such variety! We probably need to get some new DVDs or something...(no cable here)--Meg still watches her baby Einsteins with adoration--she also as 1 Dora DVD, and a Little People's DVD (a freebie with a toy--it's fairly tolerable).
Past that we are onto full length movies--she generally watches about 30 minutes at a time--Cars, Shrek 2, the Little Mermaid, Curious George...she also likes the shorts like "Mater and the Ghost Light". When we are home during the week she does like Sesame Street and Curious George on PBS. |

My girls aren't quite toddlers yet, but we subscribe to "Baby First TV" on satellite for them which they LOVE. I leave it on with a mildly low volume for some background noise during the day. It's really easy to tolerate and plays relaxing songs, has all kinds of color stimulation and even does memory & number shows which is a bit too advanced for them probably, but they still love it. The shows are all short for their limited attention spans. They watch for a bit, then play with their toys or whatever and go back to watching when something about it captures their attentions. The down side is that I constantly have the theme songs going through my head which is probably the only thing I truly can't stand, lol.

This thread is cracking me up!! In our house the big ones are:
Max and Ruby - and yes I agree that Ruby is not very smart and should listen to Max. DH is always wondering where the H*** their parents are!! WTH?? Sesame - I love it! Dora and Diego, as expected. stuck right now on Monsters Inc, because it was on the other day and we DVR'd it. Higglytown heros - tried like the dickens to find "Pizzaguy" for her Easter basket - could not find it!! I have to say that DVR is the best investment we have made in a while...! No more buying videos for us! And I record "adoption stories" and watch it while feeding the little one during the night. Mega

We DO Wiggles at our house. MOstly because I can't afford the childcare to go to my aerobics class! Have you ever done the actions to the songs? Great calorie burner!!! And it runs off DS's energy, which is not just an added plus but a necessity.
We are also into Curious George and have actually taken to calling DS "George" mostly because just like Curious George, no one can understand him and yet, we all talk to him, and he is dang curious which equates orneriness and just plain trouble and well, somehow he comes out looking like a hero and we still love him. Isn't that the way it is with Curious George??? We only have peasant/rabbit ears TV so our other faves are Canadian based.... not sure if you've heard of Poko? He is awesome although when he's sad he wears a monkey on his head, something I'm trying to teach DS not to do. And then there is "Bo...Bo...Bo on the Go!!!" She is a Dora-wannabe, but cute in her own way. And then there is PinkyDinkyDoo. Yes, you heard that right. The whole premise is on learning big words before their time and making up stories. Cute, but the rhyming, oh the rhyming... We do have lots of DVDs, mostly Dora, Diego and VeggieTales. But DS, the toddler, doesn't really do those yet. Just Big Sister. He does like Baby Einstein in a pinch too, especially after naps when Mom is finishing a project. |

We too have BabyTV on satellite. My youngest is only 9 mos. old but does seem to be showing favoritism to some programs. I've also bought Sesame Street DVD's, Elmo DVD's and Baby Einstein videos. He seems to like them all.
We love Tec the Tractor on BabyTV and Bobby's Magic Balloon House and a few others. I went to the Goodwill store to look at baby clothes and came out with a bunch of VHS tapes for Barney, Elmo, and Sesame Street. Dh can't stand Barney so we will just watch them during the week when he's not home. Now don't throw tomatoes at me, but I dearly love the Teletubbies...although neither of my sons will watch it for very long....it takes me on a trip down Memory Lane from when my older son watched it and loved it. Tinky Winky is my favorite, purse, and all. Older ds's favorite was always La-la and we even gave him a stuffed La-la to play with. Ah, the memories.... Blessings, Michelle

DD is a huge fan of Wonder Pets. We like them, too. She also likes Backyardigans. That show has a cool premise and good music. After that she likes Little Einsteins. That show is ok. Kind of boring, I guess, but she likes it. And she likes Diego.
Sponge Bob has NO redeeming qualities, but sometimes it's hard to avoid. She isn't interested in the Wiggles , and that's just fine with me. |

What channel is The Wiggles on? I've heard of them but never seen them...is that the show where there is like 4 adult males driving a car? And singing and stuff?
Blessings, Michelle

This thread cracks me up too! The best I've seen in awhile
For us DD likes lots of shows (she is a big Noggin fan, but we also watch PBS and Disney at times). She doesn't watch tons of TV each day, but when she does watch TV we watch a variety of shows and no single show every day (part of that is for Mommy's sanity) Max & Ruby - as far as Ruby being dumb...she is only 7 years old (they say that in one episode). She is mostly just bossy bossy bossy. And I agree WTH are their parents?!!! Max shops at the grocery store by himself and they are always walking or taking the bus to Grandma's house. I do like this one, but Ruby annoys me at times. Miss Spider's Sunny Patch - DD likes this show, but Spiderus (sp?) and his wife creep DH and I out so we limit this one. Yo Gabba Gabba - DD doesn't really watch this, but they play music clips in between Noggin shows from it's episodes. I just don't get it - at all! DD seems to like the songs from it, but we are not watching that here Calliou - Thank goodness people agree with me on this one. I CANNOT take the whining and whining. So....we don't watch this one either. Doodlebops - DD loves music so any show where they sing and dance is a favorite. I cannot stand this one either. The songs are OK, but the people are annoying Charlie and Lola - one of my favorites. This show is pretty funny and I love the British accents and words (ie. biscuit for cookie, etc). DD really doesn't watch this one yet. It may still be a little old for her, but she will watch it if I cut it on. Curious George, Sesame Street, Dora, Diego, Wonderpets, Blue's Clues, Backyardigans, Jack's Big Music Show - These are all pretty acceptable. In fact, DD had a Curious George themed 2nd birthday party. Unfortunately Curious George and Sesame Street show lots of reruns.

Snaps,
You sound like my twin! We are ITA about Spider Patch(glad to see I am not the only one creeped out by spiderus and his wife---hello nightmares anyone?), Max and Ruby, Charlie and Lola. It also sounds like our kids are similar. DS kinda jumps around and doesn't really get into any one show. Doodlebops-LOL. We won tix to see them a couple of weeks back and it was actually GOOD. *They* drive me nuts but their songs are quite catchy, IMO. Snaps, you reminded me of Yo Gabba Gabba. We do NOT watch this, as I refuse to. WTH? Who writes this stuff? And the songs? That's when I get the crazy notion that *I* could come up with a kids show...(I actually do have an idea for one...LOL).

I just got DD a Charlie and Lola book at the library and she loves it....I have never seen the show...what network is this on? I personally thought the book was hilarious.
Isn't it funny when you have seen every Sesame St episode like 12 times. (Let me guess, the letter of the day is K... haha). And the inane songs that run through my head all day from Barney ("Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me!"). Denise, if you are out there, I found Strawberry Shortcake. I have two dvds now, and DD is mesmerized. It is FINALLY getting warmer here. Thank gosh...free at last from the dang boob tube! |

Charlie and Lola are on the Disney Channel. I think they come on around mid day (at least they do where we live).

Ajax, I HIGHLY recommend Charlie & Lola.
That is the one show that if DS wanted on a continual loop, well, I'd let him! ;-)

Oh, another one I thought of:
Little Bear (on Noggin) - why are all the adults in the cartoon clothed and Little Bear is just naked? DH and I talk about that all the time. We could understand if they were all naked (I mean they are bears), but the older bears have like 3 piece suits and dresses and aprons and hats. WTH? Also this cartoon is too slow for me. Pretty boring if you ask me. Sadiegirl - that is funny that we have almost the same opinions on children's programming. I could watch Charlie and Lola almost continuously as well. My favorite episodes are "Snow is my favorite and my best", "Say 'cheese'", "You will not like this present as much as I do" and "I spy with my little eye." I know - I am such a dork! ![]()
