less sleep time

Well, since the last couple weeks, K is not sleeping as much. She doesn't fall asleep most nights until 9:00 or later (used to be 8:00-8:30), wakes around 7:00 (used to be 8:00), and naps about 2 hours during the day. So, K went from 14 hours a day to about 12 hours total of sleep during the day. About when she started sleeping less, she also started eating much less, probably not quite half of what she used to.

Does the lack in sleep go along with her slowing growth, not needing as much?

Here it is 8:45 p.m. and I can hear her talking in bed and pounding the mattress with her feet.

Just saw this.
That is interesting. I wonder if the two are linked? I think it is related to slower growing, but I thought (and hoped, lol) that it would be more around 2 years and older. I know that it is common for toddlers to eat less, especially when it comes to feeding themselves! (oh, reminds me, I have to send you this 'healthy' cookie recipe I came up with last night!) And they do start to sleep less... but I thought that would be gradual.

I know this post is a couple weeks old, is she still following the same pattern?

On a side note, we finally got DS down to 1 nap a day last month. He's 18 months on Sat! We just went from 16-17 hours sleep/day to about 15 hour/day.

H has gone through phases where he'd sleep more, then less. We just kind of stick with the routine (if not exactly the precise schedule.) I think it's kind of like eating---they'll self regulate. As long as you are giving her the opportunity for plenty of good sleep, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Journey--send the cookie recipe! Now that K has had cookies like twice ever, she sees one and keeps repteating "Coo-coo."
Wow, your son is now sleeping only 15 hours a day! K hasn't slept that much since she was a few months old! K has been on one nap since November.

HBV--I think you're right about the sleeping and eating self-regulating--her eating has become like that recently.
And now, this morning K slept until 9:30!!! I kpet checking on her every 5 minutes to see if she was still breathing! (But I did get the bbathroom cleaned and the bedroom dusted!)

Journey--I meant "only" as sarcastic--that is a lot of sleep!
After her 9:30 wake today, she then slept almost 3 hours for nap.

I'll send you the recipe as soon as I get a sec to copy it!

Yeah I know that 'only' comment, I get it all the time from the other Mom's! Other moms tease me 'no wonder you have time to...' or the 'must be nice...' or 'what do you do with all that time?'.
The thing is, the reason my guy sleeps so well is that when he is up, he is a WHIRLWIND! I am running or doing something constantly. He listens very well, we just have to be busy and active, so I really need those long sleep times to get anything done! Oh well, not complaining, I'm glad he is happy and healthy!
