Ladies and Gentlemen...we have poo poo!

Just wanted to brag that Katie pooped in the potty for the first time yesterday. DW said that Katie said "Momma, I have to go poo poo" and she went to the potty seat, pulled off her diaper and sat down. She's done this many times before but nothing usually came out. This time it was for real. We're soooo excited. As a reward, Momma took her out for a girls lunch and ice cream. I never thought I would get soo excited about poop! Hopefully this will keep going and we'll be able to ditch the diap's

How exciting for you, dw and your daughter! I think that we as parents get more excited. Keep it fun and exciting each time she goes. Good luck on the continued potty training.

Well...we had a little back sliding today and will be giving it a rest for a while but it was a great start. My DW had always promised Katie that when she pooped on the potty that we would take her to her favorite place in the whole wide world, Domino's Petting Farm. So they went today and fed the farm animals in the barn, almost brought home Gordon the Pygmie Goat and his brother and generally had a great time.

DW let Katie go bare bottomed when they got home to make it easier for her. The problem we ran into was that Katie couldn't get to the potty in time when she felt like she had to go. She had a couple of accidents this evening. So I think we'll go back to a diaper for a little bit until she gets a better handle on the urge.

At least this whole process has started. I'm not wishing her to grow up fast but I am eternally tired of diapers!

oh that is exciting! I just realized that Katie and MAM are only 2 days apart--you were bringing your little girl home the day MAM was born!

Can I share with you the joy that was New Year's morning when MAM woke me up and said, "potty, mama!" and proceeded to do #1 and #2!!! What a great way to ring in the new year!

It's been a longgggg process for MAM--she'll have days with just panties, then slide back to pull ups (sometimes keeping them dry, other days flooding them), it's a little maddening.

But every drop in the potty is a pull up/ diaper saved, so it's a start!

Congrats to Katie!!!
I think someone mentioned this but maybe she'd like to try big girl pullups? They're safer than panties and not so "baby" as diapers.
Also, good choice on not bringing home the pygmy goat. I can tell you from experience that while adorable, you'd never have gotten another second's peace as long as that goat was conscious.
