Brag thread

After my Y post, I was struck with an idea.

How about a "brag thread" so to speak, where we can talk about our kids and what they are doing?

My DS is 2.5 and he is, undeniably, a wonderful child. I really haven't seen the "two's", yet. A bout with throwing but that seems to have passed.

But I seriously wonder what we did to deserve such a wonderful child.

-He eats meals with little fuss
-He sleeps 11 hrs at night and takes a 3 hr nap
-He's never put anything in his mouth, tried to swallow dog food or whatever
-He can say his ABC's (up to G)
-He can count to 10
-He loves to sing and make music
-He is all boy, loves trains and trucks

I'm in for it when he's a teenager, aren't I?

Anyway, how about your toddlers?

Ooh, good idea.

H is 26 months. He too is all boy, and all about the trains and trucks.

He loves music, guacamole, spicy food, and "Special Christmas milk" (milk w/ about 1T of eggnog in it)

He has memorized about 1/2 of his books so he "reads" them to us, then says, proudly, "I'm SMART!"

Last week we pulled up to the church parking lot and he said "Jesus is home!"

He can fix the DVD player, which is more than I can say for myself.

He can do a somersault (a newly acquired skill.)

Please, Thank You, Welcome, and Excuse Me are all regularly used phrases.

And he is so cute I just want to eat him up most of the time.

Ok, I play. Kelcee is finally starting to talk so I can add to the thread.

Kelcee asks me:

Mama I help
She knows her basic colors and can tell you when you are wrong (We try to trick her to make sure)
Can count to 10
Says her abc'c to f
She'll ask me, mama you happy?
Is almost potty trained
Gives lots of kisses and hugs

I'll come up with more I'm sure.

My turn!! What a great idea! It is always better to focus on the positives and appreciate all the little moments!

Meg can dress herself, including shoes and her jacket
She knows her colors, counts to 16, and can sing the whole abc song
She recognizes the letters m, a, t, s and o
She asks, "Okay Mommy?" anytime I sigh (which is a lot!)
Her new fav phrase is,"Oh my goodness!" (as in, "oh my goodness! A Christmas tree at my house!")
Birthdays are her favorite, and loves to say, "Happy birt-day to you!" to whomever.
She's obsessed with making lines of things--lines of little people, lines of bath toys, etc...
She's also obsessed with dishtowels--she uses them as baby doll blankets. Which she covers from head to toe. Face down. So it looks like a crime scene when you enter her room.

I could go on and on....but I'll give someone else a turn!

OK, the crime scene thing just made me snort my tea out of my nose.

H says "OH MY GOSH!", "Oh my word!!" and "Oh my goodness!" too. For any reason.

OK my turn..I have 3 toddlers so there is LOTS to brag about!!!

Boogy (my 3 y/o)

Knows all his colors, even secondary ones like grey, pink, teal etc...

Knows just about all the words to Alicia Key's song "No One"

Can sweep a floor like nobody's business

Sleeps in the twin bed in the "big boy room" by himself in complete darkness (His choice). (or I should really say "big girl room" because it is adorned in barbie decor..lol) He doesn't want to sleep in the "baby room" anymore with his brothers. He made the decision to move out on his own without consulting me. Now I have to redo the room in Spiderman because he decides to move out (sheesh!..lol)

Takes the most beautiful (or I guess I should say handsome since he's a boy) pictures I have ever seen in my life.. (I swear he could be a model...)

Is the best cuddler in the world. he also gives the best kisses..

Destructo (20 months)

Knows basic colors

Has been speaking in full sentences since he was 16 months old.

Is the "big boy" of the household. he almost always takes the leadership role. Unlike his 3 y/o brother who would prefer to be the baby. (Except for the whole moving out of the baby room thing..lol)

He is fearless. he's not scared of big dogs, the dark, bugs anything.... (Well except for when it comes to sitting on the potty..lol). Then he screams bloody murder. He however will tell me everytime he poops or pees (after the fact) and also lets me know when Chocolate Thunder poops too...

Knows just about all the words to Alicia Key's song "No One"

Can say Grace all by himself.

Can't get him to watch TV for more than 2 minutes, unless there is a football game on and then he will watch forever... When we have picnics at church, he always plays football with the older boys/men and he holds his own and seems to understand what is going on. I find it truly amazing...(Dare I say..future NFL star)

He loves to act silly and crack jokes..which he thinks is hilarious and will laugh at himself for hours...

Chocolate Thunder (13 months)

Says "Thank You" and uses it in context. He has been doing this for 3 months now....

I (jokingly) told him to go get in his bed the other day and he crawled to his room (hasn't mastered walking yet..but soon I HOPE!) and went to his crib.....Of course he couldn't get in, but the fact that he understood me was amazing! (To me anyway)

Can eat with a spoon by himself.

Can open doors now..which is a pain in the butt

Can escape from behind the baby gate (also a pain in the butt)

Can snap his fingers

Has the best laugh in the world.

Can dance on beat.

Ok I could go on forever..so I'll just stop now...

I like this!!!

My DD (2.5) can sing the entire alphabet song, without a mistake. She can also sing the entire Old McDonald song, though sometimes with cow she still says quack quack! She can count to 20 (but sometimes skips 17...not sure why?). She likes to get on her "rocket ship" at night and pick up her friends and drive us to the moon (this is simply us getting under the covers). She says every day, "My birthday is NEXT." She carries on seriously LONG conversations on the telephone with her grandparents. She is an incredibly empathetic child and when she saw my 8 yo niece crying, went up to her, dried her tears off, and said, "Why are you crying? Please don't cry! Smile!'

Today she had one of her funniest lines...We are trying to teach sharing. In the book, there are two "kids" and one cookie....what to do, asks the book? I asked her, thinking she would yell, SHARE! But she said, "You pour pepper on the cookie!" (I guess we have to continue our work on "sharing"!).

Sometimes, i want to "burst" these days, because I am just so proud of her....not really for what she "does," but because of what a sweet, spunky little kid she is!

Now who doesn't want to get in on this thread???

Lilly is 20 months. She...

Recently began saying "I love you" back to us. Sounds like "I yuh you."

Gives hugs by putting both hands on your cheeks.

Counts to 10, skipping 1 and 7 faithfully.

Is finally walking 90% of the time.

Loves to be silly and make us laugh. She's begun making up games.

Has the greatest belly laugh I've ever heard.

Is the cutest child I have ever seen!!!

Here's some more:

I talked about his love of all things trains.

This boy knows ALL the names of his Thomas and friends trains. Some of them look alike and/or are the same color. There's a set of twins (Bill/Ben) and he knows who is who.

We were watching Dora today during lunch (I know, bad mommy) and Swiper came on the screen. He said, "That sneaky fox!".

He also gets on the phone and has long conversations with the g-parents. Last night, he actually took the phone from my hand before I could even say hello and started talking to my mom at length.

He has TWICE walked right up to Santa at the mall, no tears, sat on his lap and gave him his list.

I know this will come back to haunt me but I am LOVING this stage right now...

Sadie, please... if it weren't for Dora (and thank you for the invention of OnDemand whomever you are!), I would never have dinner made!!! The Swiper comment cracks me up....!!!! I think this is the best age too (I have said that at every age though!).

My youngest is 2.5 years old and hillarious! Just sitting and watching her makes me crack up.

Spinning in circles with her arms out is a favorite activity right now. She says she is a ballarina.

She knows she is cute and that a sweet smile and shaking her head up and down while asking for something will most likely result in getting what she wants. There are times all I can think is, how do you
say no to that?

Her big word right now is "beautiful" and everything is beautiful. "Oh, that so beautiful." "Look at my line. It beautiful."

Any and everytime we see Christmas decorations or lights she yells, "I see Christmas!"

She can do a stradle roll starting in a sitting position all by herself (summersault but with your legs spread apart)

She LOVES to help cook. I can't walk into the kitchen without her right behind me with a stool to reach the counter and help. Stirring things is her favorite. She also knows how to get everything ready to make scrambled eggs and will rub butter on the bottom of the pan and pop the yolks after I crack them in the pan.

She likes to talk to Grandpa and her aunt on the phone and ask what they are doing. She will give the phone fish kisses, a hug, and flash the "I love you" in sign language at the phone after saying goodbye.

She can write most of the letters in her name, just working on putting them in the correct order.

She loves the chorus of "Angels we have heard on high" especially the "Gloria" part which she calls "Ooooooooh." They are learning the song in Sunday School to sing at their little program in two weeks. Last night I heard her in bed singing "Oooooooh ria. Excelsis dooo" and repeating it over and over. Very cute!

Sadiegirl, that is hilarious about Thomas---H does exactly the same thing, and he has hundreds of those blasted cars.

I am loving the newfound grasp of the abstract. When I come home, he's usually at the kitchen island, finishing his dinner. He smiles a big smile at me, lets me get a nanny report, then smiles at nanny and says: Kate, go home now. Mommy, take jacket off.
