Leap F--- Warning!! Semi long...
I bought my 4 year old the Leap-F--- Learning Desk for xmas, I figured it was a great way for her to sit at her own-sized desk and learn ABC's and etc. Well when my husband put it together for her,,she began to sit down and explore her options for play,, I checked on her after a moment to find her face and hands and my front-room rug,, and to mention the light switch in the bathroom had ink all over it.. The desk table,, came with a pad with ink and 3 stampers for children to use..I didnt really panic too much I fugured the ink should be washable,, right???,, Wrong,,it took forever for me to wash the ink off her hands and face,,I tried to wash my wall in the bathroom, it only took off the surface ink,, a small hand printed sopt on my rug will never come out,, even after using woolite rug cleaner...
So,,I decided to write to Leap F---,, and tell them of this,, here is the first response to me.... ((We do put our products through rigorous quality assurance processes. We've never actually heard of this issue happening before. The ink pad that we do have in there had no liquid ink in it, because of this. It is just a sponge to be used with the stamps. I apologize for the inconvenience of this happening, and would suggest returning the table at the store for a refund. Unfortunately, it is against our policies to provide cash compensation. Do you, perhaps, have any other of our products?)) Have a great day. --------------- And then my response.....(( To Whom it may concern, , I recently Adopted 3 children from Poland this past September,, This was Their first xmas here in America,, Therfore I have never purchased any Leap Frog Products, for as I have never had any children til September,, I understand there was not any water in the pad Til my husband did so,, We had no idea it would have become such a mess, I want to keep the desk my Daughter loves it,, and it teaches her English words and alphabet,,There wasnt anything wrong with the item,, just the fact it caused a big ink mess,,and now,, I have a ruined rug ,, and will have to re-paint my bathroom wall. There was not even a warning label on the box about the ink. I appreciate the letter response, however I am dis-satisfied, with the result of me being suggested to bring it back to the store..This will make my husband and I think twice about purchasing any leap-frog items in the future,, I also have no other choice but to relay this incident amongst my Family and Friends that also have children. Ok so now here is the latest response.....(( Dear Karen, I apologize that you are dissatisfied with the product and for the issues that you've had with it. The ink pad in it is designed to be safe from this kind of issue, by not have liquid ink, only the ink already soaked into the pad. Again, I do apologize about this. Have a great day, and a happy new years. ------------------------------------------------ So I am truly unhappy about this product and promised myself I would tell anyone I knew,,Here is my final reply..(( The response sent to me,, was sorry but the ink pad isnt designed to get all over children,, well guess what it did,, and again I am not satisfied,, This evening I am going to toy;s r us, with my older daughter,,I will make sure I tell every parent I see about what happened,, also visit Adoption.com to read my story.. You also have a child ink free new year!!!

Hairspray sprayed on an ink stain will break up the ink molecules and allow them to be washed away. I've used this trick many many times to remove ink stains from blouses and shirt cuffs. Maybe it will work for you.

I have tried the hairspray,
,it has released some of the ink. I think what happeend is, it fell on the carpet,, my little one ,, went to get it, and put some pressure on her reach. The desk even has ink on it, that also doesnt come out, I have even tried bleach,,Besides the ink disaster,, she hasnt sat at the desk lately,, So I think We made a mistake all around with this purchase. Live and Learn!

I have never had this issue with any of my 4 kids' leap frogs. Maybe you just got a bad one?
If I understand your post, your dh add water to the ink pad? Wonder if the water mixed with the pad causes the problem. If so, then they should say in their instructions etc. to not add water to the pad. Sorry you had a bad experience. I personally have never had a problem but it's good to know about it.

The mess was so bad ,, that I did ask my husband if he had put water in ,, he told me no,, I at first thought he added water to it. The instructions in the box,,didnt mention the ink pad at all, Why would Leap-Frog even put a dry ink pad with 3 ink stampers in for the Desk,,if the children werent even supposed to use it.
Ok,, Shew,, I'm Over it!!!!!!

I am confused...so, you used the item, not as directed (added water) and it ruined your carpet/walls - and you're mad at Leap Frog?
To me, thats like putting water in your gas tank, then demanding that the dealer replace your car because its defective...it makes no sense... Surely I’ve read this incorrectly…

Nevermind, question answered...your first post seemed to indicate that your husband added water to it...

I thought my husband had added water,,because of the major mess, but He told me that he didnot add any water to it..I Have read and re-read the Learning Desks' Activity Guide Instruction Book,,and no-where in the pamphlet does it even mention the ink pad or instructions nor precautions.
I just wanted the word to be out there,,To be careful ,,if anyone has, or soon will purchase this particular Leap-frog Item,,I feel this was a careless thought on their end! Just was giving a Friendly Heads-up!

Call the rug manufacturer. They may have a remedy for the stain.
My cousin's three year old dumped a gallon of paint on his sister's brand new bedroom carpet. The manufacturer knew what to do, and cousin got it all out.
