Potty training

My daughter just turned 2 this past March. Iv'e been try to introduce the idea of potty training to her. About 2 months ago when i tried she went pee but stood up during and peed all over herself since then she wont take her diaper off and gets really upset when I try to sit her on it. My daughter is a very clean little girl by her own choice...so this freaked her out. I dont know what to do. She does sit on the potty and act like she's using it, but she has to have the diaper on. She's showing most if not all the signs that she's ready. Can anyone give me advice or tips...I really want her potty trained but i dont want her to be mad at me or scared.
Any help would be great!
Thank you
Emily

When she is at home I would ditch the diapers. Put pannies on her. Try a sticker chart and if she fills it up go to chuckie cheese or something fun like that. My dd also is very clean and it was to hard to teach her with diapers so she either wore pannies or nothing but a long shirt at home. If she had an accident I took her to the potty and told her that was where she had to go potty. I kept the bathroom set up for her a stepstool and the seet on the tiolet. She loved the sticker chart and it didn't take long for her to get it. I think that them wearing diapers doesn't help them feel the pee. When she had a few accidents and was wet she didn't like it and started to understand that she better go peepee before she goes on herself. I would try it you can always have your carpet cleaned after she is potty trained.

Just did that!!

I just did what slt did with my almost three year old boy!
It worked!!! We did have to clean up some accidents on our carpet but it really wasn't that bad. He learned in three days. The stickers did also help!

We did try when he was two years old, but he just wasn't ready. I did try pull ups before training underwear and that was horrible. It was similiar to diapers and when "N" went number 2, it was really hard to get them off of him without spillage - we ended up using scizzors.

The training underwear and regular underwear worked wonders!!! Good luck!

I tried to potty train my 2 year old boy and he wanted nothing to do with it. He would have a fit if I put him on the potty chair. I decided to wait till he was 2 1/2 and it made all the difference in the world!! The weather was warmer and I would dress him in pull up shorts (no snaps or buttons!!) I bought some training pants (cloth, not diaper type) and when he would wet them, he hated that feeling. Within a half a day, he was realizing what was causing it. Gummy Bears helped too. I was sure to give him lots to drink to give him many opportunities to go. I read "Potty Training in a Day" and used many of the techiniques in there and had GREAT luck. We have had very few accidents. We have even gone shopping and have not had any accidents. Good luck to you!!!

I wish....

...that my son would go potty at two. We tried! He will turn three in August and has finally started to use the potty!! I was SOOOO excited when his daycare called and told me he went pee pee in the potty; I actually screamed in joy and told half of my coworkers...I did the same thing when the following week he went poo in the potty. He had one accident today but is doing alright. I just can't seem to keep up with washing all these underwear and clothes!! At least in a little while, we won't have to buy anymore diapers

At two my daughter showed intrest ... I was SO excited! Though when i tried - she wanted nothing to do with it ... she was clearly not ready! So I waited. I tried a few other times with no luck, then 1 week before she turned 3. The "diaper fairy" came, took all of the diapers and left a gift for her ...with a note that said when you go pee-pee on the potty ...this is for you! That coupled with big girl underpants with her favorite chartacters did the trick ... in days she was trianed ... before her 3rd birthday!

hip hip horray!

Maybe try waiting a bit ...then maybe the "diaper fairy" will be in your neighborhood :0)

My little one has been potty trained for 6 mths or so, but a about 3 mths ago she started having accidents again so I started the sticker chart again and she started right back to going on the potty everytime. I guess she liked the sticker chart and wanted to keep it going.

There are so many techniques out there, you have to keep trying until you find what works for her. My daughter would pee on the potty, but would not poop. She was almost five by the time we got her fully trained, we tried the panties and that didn't work, we even tried no panties or diaper, she would just hold it until she was constipated which was painful and made her afraid altogether. It just took patience and she finally did it on her own. My son however has been a different story, he would pee and poop, but only when it suited him. We tried to offer him rewards, but to no avail. He is three soon to be four in July. If we put him in underwear he'd just wet himself. I tried nothing at all, like with my daughter when at home and he would pee anywhere, even in his toys! Similar to your situation. He just got into Batman and to my surprise a reward of a batman toy worked. He's been pullup free(except at night) for almost two weeks now . He got batman underwear after 5 days and after 7 he got a toy. For every seven he gets a toy(Small) and once he goes all day and all night he'll get a batman suit for his birthday. Maybe something like this will work for you....Good Luck!

I'm also in the trenches with you!

My son turned 2 in april, and actually it's going pretty well. He's initiating...but of course we aren't there yet.

I do use diapers when we are going out for activities...but in the house it's training pants! They are definitely the best, but so hard to find here for some reason (everyone is using pullups i guess)

Sigh...oh well! Here's to us all!!

Also!

Perhaps you can find someone here to just buy you a bulk of training pants. Those dang pullups are awful!! Sorry to those who love them.

Well...by initiating, i mean....peeing and then saying "OH NO QUICK QUICK" and running to the potty....so, we're still missing the mark, lol ..so you can't be TOO jealous..lol.

He does sometimes ask to go to the potty....and squeezes out a teeny bit......and a couple times he has actually had the "big pee" which thrilled me to no end....yes, it's come to this..Pee in a potty excites me..

Yes I remember doing the big potty dances, yelling through the house that she went potty it was so exciting. It is funny because she got a kitten for her birthday and she was yelling and screaming about how he was such a good boy for going poopie and pee pee in his potty. It was really funny.
