Oh My Gosh Karen ROFL...

Uh...You *could* try some "Goo Gone" on the coffee maker...

You didn't indicate what type of counter we're looking at here - is if formica? Try one of those magic erasers...the thing with perma markers and white counters (can you tell I have experience here?) is that it's going to be really hard to remove the stain without turning the counter under it yellow...

With the coffee maker, I'd try some Acetone (sp?) and a cotton ball.

If you've got some kind of natural counter top, like marble or granite, your options are very limited...as most chemical's strong enough to remove the stain would also do damage to the counter.

This actually might be a great question to ask the folks at Lowes or Home Depot. I have, on occasion, found someone working there who isn't straight out of high school and who does have *some* experience in dealing with the products in their department. So go back to the "Custom Kitchen" area and see if someone there can help!

I'd call the manufacturer of the pen -- (remember FOUR boys ... lots of markers) In my experience, I have found the pen makers usually have LOTS of great ideas (BLECH!!!)

Permanent Marker Stains on Skin

How can I safely remove permanent marker from the skin?
--Tracie Brooks, Vincentown, NJ

Pour rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel, then use it to rub off the ink. You can use a gritty hand soap or cleansing cream to do the job, too. One homestyle hint is to dip a cotton ball into milk and swipe over the stain. Hardware stores also carry special natural hand cleansers, gentle to the skin, that will remove these marker stains.

There seems to be lots of products on the market you could try ... I just googled it...

Q: I would like to know if there is any way to remove permanent marker stains from my wood-finish kitchen cabinets.

-- Amy Barnes

A: "All I can suggest is trying the standard stuff. A product called Goof Off, denatured alcohol or maybe lacquer thinner," says Tim Perryman of Perryman Painting in North Highlands.

"When using these removers you will have to be very careful not to take off the finish as well. Excessive rubbing will take the finish off quickly, especially lacquer thinner," he cautions.

LOL Jen~ I guess I'd better print this stuff for future reference! I thought working was hard...this 2 year old has nothing on managing a bank branch...that was easy compared to him. I can't imagine 4 boys!!

lol Do you know poison control reps by name yet? Just wait ... of course, there is all those explanations to the neighbours why our kids (the only children on our street) have to yell so much, or why their balls NEVER stay in our yard ...

And yes, daycare would be a breeze over having the 4 human destructos at home with me all day every day. lol my "BABY" turns 5 today ... hard to imagine. So although I am now outgrowing the marker on walls (sheets, clothes, furniture) phase, we are into a whole new ball game!!

Try a Mr. Clean Eraser. I got ball point pen off of our wood armoire & leather sofa. I need to get one today for the blue marker on the wall.

Also try using sunsceen to get the marker off of his skin. It is supposed to work on Sharpie pens. Mark Kay make-up remover also gets off a lot of types of ink on skin.

I feel you pain. Really I do. I re-painted our staircase walls on the bottom 4 ft yesterday after I sprayed Kilz all over the place.

LOL! Ds had blue up & down both arms and legs last night. Luckily, it was an old washable marker and came off easily.

I've been there! When we built our house one of our sons was two and while I was unpacking he found the black marker and colored our NEW white cabinets. I called my builder and he told me to use "oops" that is what builders use to clean up paint spills and such. I got some and it took it right off with out leaving anything behind. As far as your son, I think it has to wear off the skin! LOL

LOL! Cute pics! Those are scrapbooking material...

For some reason, Vinegar comes to mind. But I don't know why... I know it works well to clean lots of stuff, and it's safe. But your boy may smell vinegary. :-)

HUH? What??? Duh mommy! Thanks Crick...lessoned learned...I am blond ya know...LOL!

OK, the embarrassing part of this...why oh why I am even admitting this...he got a hold of this same marker last night (I use it to write his name on his *stuff* for school) so I hid it...the little snot was watching...and this morning he remembered where it was!!! He climbed up on the counter, crawled across and opened the cupboard! Voila...red marker in hand...on leg...on brand new white nike sneakers...among the others listed earlier.

Thanks for the tips...still working on getting it all tken care of!

I was trusted with a $40 million branch at work...but I can't handle a 2 year old!!! lol...
