thai adoption for bangkok residents?

we are expats living in bangkok. we would like very much to adopt a thai child. i can not find information anywhere about what the rules are for adopting a thai child when you are living in the country ie. how long do you have to be resident in thailand, what sort of visa or work permit you need etc. i would really appreciate any advice on this.

thanks!!

The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is likely to have the information. You can also contact any American adoption agency with a Thailand program; it should be able to help you.
