question about step child adoption
Do i still have to adopt my wife's child if my name is on the birth certificate?
I met my wife when she was three months pregnant. i married her a 6 mo. i love our son so very much , i forget that i am not his biological father. when he was born he took my name and my name is on his birth certificate. she got the DNA test done because she felt it was the right thing to do, i agreed. i am in the army now and my wife's health hasn't been good . i want to make sure we dont lose our child if the worst were to happen. thats one of the many reasons i want to know about adoption and if i need to do it before something happens. please let me know any info or personal experiences |

In Texas, the husband is the father in the eyes of the law, even if he isn't the biological father.
If you were married when the child was born, then there is nothing you need to do. I will go on to say, however, that you do need to be honest with your son.
